A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.

(1) Obey the fuel safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Get Access

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below zone 521(621).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:

for the left wing, remove 521AB 521BT 521CB 521EB 521GB
for the right wing, remove 621AB 621BT 621CB 621EB 621GB

(Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-009) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-010).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-20-00-110-086-A

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:

the front spar forward face, between Rib 1 and Rib 8.

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Front Spar Forward Face, between Rib 1 and Rib 8, including Vicinity of Cutouts for Slat Tracks 1, 2, 3 and 4
(1) Examine the applicable inspection area.
Make sure that:

there is no corrosion, damage or dents
there are no scratches or scores
there are no cracks
there are no loose or damaged fasteners or any item broken or missing
the surface protection is in the correct condition.

NOTE: Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF and a MIRROR - INSPECTION to supply lighting to the applicable inspection area.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

5. Close-up
Subtask 57-20-00-410-086-A

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels:

for the left wing, install 521AB 521BT 521CB 521EB 521GB
for the right wing, install 621AB 621BT 621CB 621EB 621GB

(Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-400-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-400-009) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-400-010).

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
