   (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) below the applicable wing rear spar, zone 574(674).
   (2) Open the applicable access panels:

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:
  • the rear spar aft face between Rib 5 and Rib 8.

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Fixed Trailing Edge, Rear Spar Aft Face, between Gear Support Rib 5 and Rib 8
   (1) Examine the outer wing fixed trailing edge and the rear spar aft face between Ribs 5 and 8.
Make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion, damage or dents
  • there are no scratches or scores
  • there are no cracks
  • there are no loose or damaged fasteners or any item broken or missing
  • the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF and a MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE to supply lighting to the applicable inspection area.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

C. Application of Temporary Protection System (TPS)
   (1) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001):
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If, after the check, you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can apply a new layer as a spray on the remaining layer.
   (2) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001) and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) :
   (3) If, before the inspection, there was:
  • Removal of the TPS layer
  • Or cleaning of the inspection area with high pressure water, steam, Solvents and/or cleaning agents apply a full new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
