A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) Obey the fuel safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the zone 540(640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:

for the left wing, remove 540AB and 540BB
for the right wing, remove 640AB and 640BB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-20-00-110-064-A

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:

the outer wing, RIB 5, aft of the bolted panel.

Subtask 57-20-00-210-061-A

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, RIB 5, Aft of Bolted Panel
(1) Examine the applicable inspection area. Make sure that:

there is no corrosion or damage
there are no scratches or scores
there are no loose or damaged fasteners
the surface protection is in the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

5. Close-up
Subtask 57-20-00-410-064-A

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels:

for the left wing, install 540AB and 540BB
for the right wing, install 640AB and 640BB, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001).

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
