A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.

(1) Obey the fuel safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Move the fuel to another tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) or defuel the tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) as applicable.
(2) Drain all of the remaining fuel from the tank through the water drain valves (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access

WARNING: OBEY THE SAFETY PROCEDURES WHEN YOU DO WORK IN A FUEL TANK.

(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the zone 540(640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:

for the left wing, remove 540AB
for the right wing, remove 640AB, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).

(3) Open the RIB2 surge doors:

for the left wing, open 540AZ 540BZ
for the right wing, open 640AZ 640BZ.

(4) Install the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) on the forward surge doors.
(5) Install the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) on the aft surge doors.

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-20-00-110-059-A

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:

the top-skin stringer crown-fittings at the root joint.

B. Detailed Inspection of the Outer Wing, Top-Skin Stringer Crown Fittings at Root Joint, from Front Spar to Rear Spar
(1) Examine the top-skin stringer crown-fittings at the root joint.
Make sure that:

there is no corrosion or damage
there are no scratches or scores
there are no loose or damaged fasteners
the surface protection is in the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

5. Close-up
Subtask 57-20-00-410-059-A

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) from the forward surge doors.
(3) Remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) from the aft surge doors.
(4) Close the RIB2 surge doors:

for the left wing, close 540AZ 540BZ
for the right wing, close 640AZ 640BZ.

(5) Install the applicable access panels:

for the left wing, install 540AB
for the right wing, install 640AB, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001).

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
