A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) below the applicable wing rear spar, zone 574(674).

B. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:
  • the rear-spar aft face between RIB 1 and RIB 5.
   (3) If there is a TPS layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-20-00-210-054-A
A. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Rear Spar, Aft Face, Between RIB 1 and Gear Support RIB 5, including Rear Spar Angle
   (1) Examine the rear-spar aft face between RIBS 1 and 5, together with the rear spar angle, and make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion or damage
  • there are no scratches or scores
  • there are no cracks
  • there are no loose or damaged fasteners
  • the surface protection is in the correct condition.
   (2) If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 or SRM 512100 for the correct repair procedure.

A. Repair of the Temporary Protection System (TPS)
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) TYPE 3 ON THE MOVABLE COMPONENTS. USE ONLY TPS TYPE 1 GRADE 2. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE MECHANISMS WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
   (1) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If, after the check, you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can apply a new layer as a spray on the existing layer.
   (2) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001) and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) to the rear-spar aft face between RIBS 1 and 5, together with the rear spar angle (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (3) If, before the inspection, there was:
  • Removal of the TPS layer
  • Or cleaning of the inspection area with high pressure water, steam, Solvents and/or cleaning agents apply a full new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
