Inspection (US) of the Rear Spar of the Cruciform Fitting of the Center Wing Box at FR42Subtask 57-10-00-010-084-A
A. Get Access
(1) For the Ultrasonic (US) inspection only:
(a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 191 (192).
(b) Remove the wing-to-fuselage fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001):
(2) For the ROTOTEST inspection only:
(b) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001):
1 For the left wing: 540AB
2 For the right wing: 640AB.
(c) Open the RIB2 surge doors:
1 For the left wing: 540AZ and 540BZ
2 For the right wing: 640AZ and 640BZ.
(d) Install the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) on the forward surge doors.
(e) Install the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) on the aft surge doors.
Subtask 57-10-00-110-073-A (1) For the Ultrasonic (US) inspection only:
(a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 191 (192).
(b) Remove the wing-to-fuselage fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001):
(2) For the ROTOTEST inspection only:
NOTE: These steps are necessary only if you found cracks during the US inspection.
(a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below access panels 540AB and 640AB. (b) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001):
1 For the left wing: 540AB
2 For the right wing: 640AB.
(c) Open the RIB2 surge doors:
1 For the left wing: 540AZ and 540BZ
2 For the right wing: 640AZ and 640BZ.
(d) Install the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) on the forward surge doors.
(e) Install the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) on the aft surge doors.
B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) For the ROTOTEST inspection only:
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) For the ROTOTEST inspection only:
- Remove the fasteners to examine the holes (refer to SRM 514200).
Subtask 57-10-00-270-055-A
A. Inspection
(1) Do a special detailed inspection (US) of the cruciform-fitting rear spar of the center wing box at FR42 (on the left and right sides), for damage or discontinuities (refer to NTM 571147).
(2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection:
(a) Corrosion damage:
Subtask 57-10-00-280-051-A (1) Do a special detailed inspection (US) of the cruciform-fitting rear spar of the center wing box at FR42 (on the left and right sides), for damage or discontinuities (refer to NTM 571147).
(2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection:
(a) Corrosion damage:
- If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
- If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
NOTE: If you found cracks during the US inspection, the ROTOTEST inspection is necessary ( NTM 571147).
B. Inspection
(1) Do a special detailed inspection (ROTOTEST) of the cruciform-fitting rear spar of the center wing box at FR42 (on the left and right sides), for damage or discontinuities (refer to NTM 571147).
(2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection.
(a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
Subtask 57-10-00-420-056-A (1) Do a special detailed inspection (ROTOTEST) of the cruciform-fitting rear spar of the center wing box at FR42 (on the left and right sides), for damage or discontinuities (refer to NTM 571147).
(2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection.
(a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
C. Installation of the Fasteners
(2) Install the fasteners of the examined holes (refer to SRM 514200).
5. Close-upNOTE: This procedure is applicable only if the fasteners were removed during the ROTOTEST inspection.
(1) Refer to the installation drawing in the SRM identification section for the new fastener references. (2) Install the fasteners of the examined holes (refer to SRM 514200).
Subtask 57-10-00-410-084-A
A. Close Access
(1) If installed, remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) from the aft surge doors.
(2) If installed, remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) from the forward surge doors.
(3) If opened, close the RIB2 surge doors:
(a) For the right wing: 640AZ and 640BZ
(b) For the left wing: 540AZ and 540BZ.
(4) If removed, install the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001):
(a) For the right wing: 640AB
(b) For the left wing: 540AB.
(5) Install the wing-to-fuselage fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-400-001):
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(7) Remove the access platform(s).
(1) If installed, remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) from the aft surge doors.
(2) If installed, remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) from the forward surge doors.
(3) If opened, close the RIB2 surge doors:
(a) For the right wing: 640AZ and 640BZ
(b) For the left wing: 540AZ and 540BZ.
(4) If removed, install the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001):
(a) For the right wing: 640AB
(b) For the left wing: 540AB.
(5) Install the wing-to-fuselage fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-400-001):
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(7) Remove the access platform(s).
