A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On FLAPS panel 114VU:
     (a) Put the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS in position on the flap/slat control lever.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat control lever.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the main landing-gear doors 734 ( 744) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 191 (192).
   (3) Remove the wing-to-fuselage fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001):
  • For the left side: 191LB
  • For the right side: 192LB.

C. Preparation for the Inspection
   (1) Clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , if necessary.
   (2) Make sure that the surface of the inspection area is clean and smooth.
   (3) Do a visual check of the inspection area for damage or discontinuities.
   (4) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find other damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for damage classification and corrective action.
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-10-00-270-053-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection (US) of the two center rows of the fasteners in the center wing box. This inspection is applicable on the lower surface of the lower splice, between STGR8 and FR42 (left and right sides). Refer to Non-destructive Testing Manual NTM 571183.
   (2) Make a report of damage after the NTM inspection:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find other damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for damage classification and corrective action.
5. Close-up
Subtask 57-10-00-410-081-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the wing-to-fuselage fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-400-001):
  • For the left side: 191LB
  • For the right side: 192LB.
   (3) Close the main landing-gear doors 734 ( 744) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
