A. Get Access
   (1) Open main landing-gear doors 734 ( 744) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position at zones 191,192,195 and 196.
   (3) Remove the wing-to-fuselage fairings:
191CT 191LB 192CT and 192LB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001).
   (4) Remove the quick-release access panels:
191BB 191EB 192EB 192FB 195BB and 196BB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002).
   (5) Use a FLASHLIGHT for the inspection.
Subtask 57-10-00-110-059-A
B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If it is not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If there is a Temporary Protection System (TPS) layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-10-00-220-059-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the lower surface of the lower skin of the center wing box. This inspection is applicable from FR36 to FR42, between RIB1 left side and RIB1 right side. This inspection includes the lower splice at RIB1, as far as you can see.
   (2) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for damage classification and corrective action.
Subtask 57-10-00-916-051-A
B. Application of the Temporary Protection System
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON THE OXYGEN SYSTEMS. MAKE SURE THAT THE TEMPORARY PROTECTION DOES NOT GET:
  • ON COMPOSITE PARTS, CONTROL CABLES, PULLEYS,TEFLON BEARINGS.
  • ON LUBRICATED SURFACES.
  • IN DRAIN VALVES OR OTHER ORIFICES.
TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON OR IN THESE PARTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If, after the check, you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can apply a new layer as a spray on the existing layer.
   (2) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) or PAPER - MASKING on the equipment and fittings adjacent to the area.
   (3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (4) If, before the inspection, there was:
  • Removal of the TPS layer or
  • Cleaning of the inspection area with high-pressure water, steam, solvents and/or cleaning agents
Apply a full new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (5) Remove the PAPER - MASKING or the Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) .
5. Close-up
