CAUTION: DURING THE INSTALLATION AND/OR CLEARANCE CHECK, BE CAREFUL THAT THE FASTENERS IN THE WINDOW FRAME DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WINDOW. BECAUSE OF THE ADDED THICKNESS OF THE GLASS PANEL IN THE GLASS WINDOW ASSEMBLY, THE FASTENERS IN THE WINDOW FRAME CAN TOUCH THE GLASS SLIDING WINDOW-PANEL AND DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.

1. Reason for the Job
NOTE: Two persons are necessary for this procedure.
NOTE: There are alternative procedures for the installation of the sliding windows. This task gives one of the procedures. For the other procedures, refer to the related task in this page block.
NOTE: This procedure is applicable to:
  • The acrylic windows (GKN supplier, P/N NH...)
  • The glass windows (PPG supplier, P/N NP...)
  • The glass windows (SGS supplier, P/N SPSA320-7-X-X or SPSA320-8-X-X, do not include P/N SPSA320-3-X-X or SPSA320-4-X-X).

A. Inspection of the Edge Seal of the Sliding Window Panel (GKN supplier)
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the edge seal of the sliding window panel.
   (2) Make sure that there are no bulges or tears on the seal.
   (3) If you find damage, repair the sliding window panel (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-300-002).

B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the housing of the sliding window panel with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

C. Removal of the Closure Plate

NOTE: The removal of the closure plate is applicable if PPG window-panel P/N NP165312-1 or NP165312-2 is replaced with PPG window-panel P/N NP165312-3, NP165312-4, NP165312-5 or NP165312-6.
NOTE: It is not permitted to use sharp instruments for the removal of the window.
   (1) Hold the foam and carefully pull the closure plate (1) away from the sliding window panel (2).
   (2) If there is remaining sealant on the glass window surface, clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

D. Installation of the Sliding Window Panel
   (1) Install of the acrylic sliding-window panel (GKN supplier, P/N NH...) and the glass sliding-window panel (PPG supplier, P/N NP..., do not include P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2):
NOTE: Numbers 1 to 63 identify the attachment holes on the periphery of the sliding window panel (31).
     (a) Use the CUP - SUCTION to move and hold the sliding window panel (31) in position in its frame (33) during the installation.
     (b) Put the sliding window panel (31) in position in its housing.
     (c) Move the frame (33) of the sliding window to the closed position.
     (d) Installation of the pins:
       1 For the acrylic sliding-window panel (GKN supplier, P/N NH...), install the PIN DIA 5 MM (0.196 IN), LENGTH 50 MM (1.96 IN.) at positions 28 and 60 to hold the sliding window panel (31) in position.
       2 For the glass sliding-window panel (PPG supplier, P/N NP..., do not include P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2), install the PIN DIA 5 MM (0.196 IN), LENGTH 50 MM (1.96 IN.) at positions 28 and 60 to hold the sliding window panel (31) in position.
     (e) Move the frame (33) of the sliding window to the open position.
     (f) Install the screws (32) and the nuts (30) (do not install the screws at positions 28 and 60).
     (g) Do a check of the interface of clearance B between the sliding window panel (31) and the frame (33).
       1 For the glass sliding-windows panel (PPG supplier, P/N NP..., do not include P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2) make sure that the interface of clearance B is a maximum of 2 mm (0.0787 in.).
NOTE: The check of the interface of clearance B is not applicable to the acrylic sliding-windows panel (GKN supplier, P/N NH...).
     (h) TORQUE the nuts (30) at the attachment holes in this sequence: 44, 43, 45, 42, 46, 41, 47, 40, 48, 39, 49, 38, 50, 37, 51, 36, 52, 35, 53, 34 and 54.
       1 For the acrylic sliding-windows panel (GKN supplier, P/N NH...), TORQUE the nuts to between 0.30 and 0.27 m.daN (26.55 and 23.89 lbf.in ) T.
       2 For the glass sliding-windows panel (PPG supplier, P/N NP..., do not include P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2), TORQUE the nuts to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T.
     (i) Remove the two pins and install the screws (32) and the nuts (30).
     (j) Do not loosen the nuts (30). Do a check of the torque on the forward edge of the sliding window panel in this sequence: 44, 43, 45, 42, 46, 41, 47, 40, 48, 39, 49, 38, 50, 37, 51, 36, 52, 35, 53, 34 and 54.
     (k) TORQUE the remaining nuts (30) at the attachment holes in this sequence: 55, 33, 56, 32, 57, 31, 58, 30, 29, 59, 28, 27, 60, 26, 25, 61, 24, 23, 22, 62, 21, 20, 63, 19, 18, 17, 1, 16, 2, 15, 3, 14, 4, 13, 5, 12, 6, 11, 7, 10, 8 and 9:
       1 For the acrylic sliding-windows panel (GKN supplier, P/N NH...), TORQUE the nuts to between 0.30 and 0.27 m.daN (26.55 and 23.89 lbf.in )

       2 For the glass sliding-windows panel (PPG supplier, P/N NP..., do not include P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2), TORQUE the nuts to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )

     (l) Hold the nuts (30) with the
98D56103002000 WRENCH, REMOVAL - SLIDING WINDOW OF LUCAS AND PPG (98D56103002200) at position 17 and the 98D56103002000 WRENCH, REMOVAL - SLIDING WINDOW OF LUCAS AND PPG (98D56103002201) at position 18 and TORQUE the screws (32):
       1 For the acrylic sliding-windows panel (GKN supplier, P/N NH...), TORQUE the nuts to between 0.36 and 0.324 m.daN (31.86 and 28.67 lbf.in ) T.
       2 For the glass sliding-windows panel (PPG supplier, P/N NP..., do not include P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2), TORQUE the nuts to between 0.42 and 0.36 m.daN (37.17 and 31.86 lbf.in )
T.
   (2) Install the glass sliding-window panel (SGS supplier, P/N SPSA320-7-X-X or SPSA320-8-X-X):
NOTE: Numbers 1 to 63 identify the attachment holes on the periphery of the sliding window panel (32).
     (a) Use the CUP - SUCTION to move and hold the sliding window panel (32) in position in its frame during the installation.
     (b) Put the sliding window panel (32) in position in its housing.
     (c) Move the frame (33) of the sliding window to the closed position.
     (d) Install four screws (30) at the four corners of the frame.
     (e) Move the frame (33) of the sliding window to the open position.
     (f) Do a check of the interface of clearance B between the sliding window panel (31) and the frame (33).
       1 Make sure that interface through-clearance B is a maximum of 0.3 mm (0.0118 in.).
     (g) Install the new AIPC 56-12-11-01-040 SCREW (30) and the new AIPC 56-12-11-01-030 WASHER (31).
     (h) Tighten the screws (30) with your hand.
     (i) In a staggered pattern, TORQUE the screws (30) to between 0.22 and 0.18 m.daN (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in )
T.
     (j) In a staggered pattern, TORQUE the screws (30) again to between 0.40 and 0.30 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T.
   (3) Install the glass sliding-window panel (PPG supplier, P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2):
NOTE: Numbers 1 to 63 identify the attachment holes on the periphery of the sliding window panel (1).
     (a) Use the CUP - SUCTION to move and hold the sliding window panel (1) in its frame (33).
     (b) Put the sliding window panel (1) in position in its housing.
     (c) Do a check of the interface of clearance B between the sliding window panel (1) and the frame.
       1 Make sure that interface through-clearance B is a maximum of 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
     (d) Install the washers (2) and the screws (3).
NOTE: When you interchange P/N NP165312-13 and P/N NP165332A1/NP165332A2, different screws and washers are necessary.
     (e) TORQUE the screws (3) to between 0.40 and 0.30 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in ) T in the holes in the sequence.

E. Check of the Clearances
   (1) Make sure that the sliding window is open.
   (2) Do a check of the interface of clearance B between the sliding window panel (31) and the frame (33).
NOTE: Clearance B (through and edge clearances) between the window frame and the window panel shows a defect in the flat surfaces of the panel and the frame.
The location of the edge clearance is at the window panel/frame edge.
The through-clearance is an edge clearance that continues through the frame.
     (a) Make sure that clearance B is:
       1 For the acrylic sliding-window panel (GKN supplier, P/N NH...):
  • Before amendment C, through-clearance B is 0.4 mm (0.0157 in.).
  • After amendment C, through-clearance B is a maximum of 1 mm (0.0394 in.).
       2 For the glass sliding-window panel (PPG supplier, P/N NP..., do not include P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2):
  • Through-clearance B is a maximum of 0.3 mm (0.0118 in.).
  • Edge clearance B is a maximum of 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
       3 For the glass sliding-window panel (PPG supplier, P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2):
  • Edge clearance B is a maximum of 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
       4 For the glass sliding-window panel (SGS supplier, P/N SPSA320-7-X-X or SPSA320-8-X-X, do not include P/N SPSA320-3-X-X or SPSA320-4-X-X):
  • Edge clearance B is a maximum of 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
   (3) Close the sliding window.
   (4) Make sure that the window moves easily.
   (5) Make sure that the value of out-of-flush dimension A1 at the measured points agrees with the value given in the related figure for:
NOTE: Out-of-flush dimension A1 (between the sliding window and the frame) of between -3 mm (-0.1181 in.) and 0.7 mm (0.0276 in.) is permitted at the measured points.
NOTE: Out-of-flush dimension A1 (between the sliding window and the frame) of between -3 mm (-0.1181 in.) and 0.7 mm (0.0276 in.) is permitted at the measured points.
NOTE: Out-of-flush dimension A1 (between the Z-section of the sliding window panel and the frame) of between -3 mm (-0.1181 in.) and 0.8 mm (0.0315 in.) is permitted at the measured points.
   (6) Make sure that the difference between the maximum value of the out-of-flush dimension at measured points A, B, C and D agrees with the value given in the related figure for:
NOTE: A difference of 1 mm (0.0394 in.) is permitted at measured points A, B, C and between the maximum value of the out-of-flush dimension.
   (7) Make sure that the difference between the maximum value of the out-of-flush dimension at measured points A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H agrees with the value given in the related figure for:

F. Adjustment of the Sliding Window Panel to Get the Out-of-Flush Dimension
   (1) If out-of-flush dimension A1 or A2 (for the sliding window-panel P/Ns NP165332A1 and NP165332A2 (PPG supplier)) is not correct, adjust the sliding window panel:
     (a) Release the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
     (b) Remove the circlips (42), (45), (46) and (51).
     (c) Remove the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50).
     (d) Remove and discard the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
     (e) Install the new AIPC 56-12-11-02-185 LOCKWASHER (52) and the new AIPC 56-12-11-02-185 LOCKWASHER (53).
     (f) Install the new
AIPC 56-12-11-03-185 LOCKWASHER (54) and the new AIPC 56-12-11-03-185 LOCKWASHER (55).
     (g) Install the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50).
     (h) Turn the eccentrics (40), (43), (48) and (49) to get out-of-flush dimension A1 or A2.
     (i) TORQUE the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50) to between 22 and 20 m.N (16.22 and 14.75 lbf.ft )
T.
     (j) Safety the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50) with the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
     (k) Install the circlips (42), (45), (46) and (51).
   (2) Adjustment of the latches (90):
     (a) Make sure that the sliding window panel is closed.
     (b) Make sure that clearance J2 between the latches (90) and the locking pins (91) is between 0 mm (0.0000 in.) and 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
     (c) If clearance J2 is not in the tolerance, turn the eccentric of the locking pins (91) on the frame.

G. Adjustment of the Handle
   (1) Do a check of the load necessary to operate the handle during the opening.
NOTE: The load on the handle is directly related to the out-of-flush adjustment of the window.
     (a) Operate the sliding window.
     (b) Use the DYNAMOMETER 25 DAN (56.2 LBF) to measure the load on the handle perpendicularly.
NOTE: The permitted load on the handle is 20 +2 daN or -3 daN (44.9618 +4.4962 lbf or -6.7443 lbf).
     (c) If the load is not in the tolerance, adjust the sliding window again.
NOTE: We recommend that you adjust the window to get a load on the handle that is almost the maximum limit.

H. Sealing Check
   (1) Close the sliding window.
   (2) Apply water on the periphery of the sliding window from the outer side of the aircraft.
   (3) After 10 minutes, make sure that there is no water leakage at the window frame.
   (4) If the water goes into the cockpit, make sure that the adjustments are correct and that the seal is in the correct condition.
   (5) Dry the sliding window, if necessary.

A. Installation of the Sliding Window Lining
NOTE: The acrylic window panel (GKN supplier), the glass window panel (PPG supplier) and the glass window panel (SGS supplier, P/N SPSA320-7-X-X or SPSA320-8-X-X) are interchangeable.
   (1) Install the structural bracket assembly, if removed (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-400-802).
   (2) Make sure that pins A/C and A/D of the electrical connector (10) of the sliding window panel are connected to pins B/X and B/W of the Window Heat Computer (WHC).
   (3) Connect the electrical connector (10) to the receptacle of the sliding window panel. Refer to ASM 304201 or ASM 304202.
   (4) Lift the plate (17).
   (5) Put the sliding window lining (16) in position.
   (6) Put the plate (17) in position and install the screws (12) and (11).
   (7) Tighten the screws (12) and (11).
   (8) Install the washer (2) and the screw (3).
   (9) Tighten the screw (3).
   (10) Install the blanking plug (4).
   (11) Open the sliding window.
   (12) Install the guide (13) on the sliding window lining (16) with the washer (14) and the screw (15).
   (13) Tighten the screw (15).
   (14) Install the washer (8) and the screw (9).
   (15) Tighten the screw (9).
   (16) Put the handle (6) in position.
   (17) Install the washer (20) and the screw (21). Do not fully tighten the screw (21) at this time.
   (18) Install the washer (18) and the screw (19).
   (19) Tighten the screws (19) and (21).
   (20) Put the pencil holder assembly (7) in position.
   (21) Install the screw (5) and tighten it.
   (22) Close the sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-410-001).

   (1) Install the EFB DU mounting-bracket, if removed (Ref. AMM D/O 46-26-22-40).

   (3) Install the personal tablet support, if removed (Ref. AMM D/O 25-13-41-40).
   (4) Install the reading light, if removed (Ref. AMM TASK 33-12-12-400-001):
