Installation of the Sliding Window Panel

1. Reason for the JobNOTE: Two persons are necessary for this procedure.
NOTE: There are alternative procedures for the installation of the sliding windows. This task gives one of the procedures. For the other procedures, refer to the related task in this page block.
NOTE: This procedure is applicable to the glass windows (SGS supplier, P/N SPSA320-3-X-X or SPSA320-4-X-X).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at zone 210, in front of the sliding window.

A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the housing of the sliding window panel with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 56-12-11-420-081-A (1) Clean the housing of the sliding window panel with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
B. Installation of the Sliding Window Panel
(1) Use the CUP - SUCTION to move and hold the sliding window panel (30) in position in its frame during the installation.
(2) Put the sliding window panel (30) and the retainer (31) in position in its housing.
(3) Move the frame of the sliding window to the closed position.
(4) Install the four screws (32) at the four corners of the frame.
(5) Move the frame of the sliding window to the open position.
(6) Install all the screws (32) and washers (33) and tighten them with your hand.
(7) Install the SHIM THICKNESS 1.4 MM (0.05 IN) - WOODEN between the sliding window panel (30) and the retainer (31) to get clearance A of 1.4 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.0551 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
(8) Install the washers (33) and the screws (32) at the four corners of the frame.
(9) In a staggered pattern, TORQUE the screws (32) to between 0.22 and 0.18 m.daN (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in )

(11) Remove the non metallic shims.
(12) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the peripheral gap.
(13) Clean the remaining sealing compound between the window panel (30) and the retainer (31) with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) soaked with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
Subtask 56-12-11-820-078-A (1) Use the CUP - SUCTION to move and hold the sliding window panel (30) in position in its frame during the installation.
(2) Put the sliding window panel (30) and the retainer (31) in position in its housing.
(3) Move the frame of the sliding window to the closed position.
(4) Install the four screws (32) at the four corners of the frame.
(5) Move the frame of the sliding window to the open position.
(6) Install all the screws (32) and washers (33) and tighten them with your hand.
(7) Install the SHIM THICKNESS 1.4 MM (0.05 IN) - WOODEN between the sliding window panel (30) and the retainer (31) to get clearance A of 1.4 +1 mm or -1 mm (0.0551 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.).
(8) Install the washers (33) and the screws (32) at the four corners of the frame.
(9) In a staggered pattern, TORQUE the screws (32) to between 0.22 and 0.18 m.daN (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in )
. - Use the 98D56103002001 WRENCH, REMOVAL - SLIDING WINDOW OF SPS for the screw (32) behind the axis of the control handle.
. (11) Remove the non metallic shims.
(12) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the peripheral gap.
(13) Clean the remaining sealing compound between the window panel (30) and the retainer (31) with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) soaked with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
C. Check of the Out-of-flush Dimension
(1) Close the sliding window.
(2) Make sure that the window moves easily.
(3) Make sure that out-of-flush dimension A1 (between the Z-section of the sliding window and the frame) at measured points agrees with the value given in the related figure for:

- The glass windows (SGS supplier, P/N SPSA320-3-X-X or SPSA320-4-X-X).
NOTE: Out-of-flush dimension A1 of between -3 mm (-0.1181 in.) and 0.8 mm (0.0315 in.) is permitted at the measured points.
(4) Make sure that the difference between the maximum value of the out-of-flush dimension at measured points A, B, C and D agree with the value given in the related figure for: - The glass windows (SGS supplier, P/N SPSA320-3-X-X or SPSA320-4-X-X).
NOTE: The difference between the maximum value of the out-of-flush dimension of 1 mm (0.0394 in.) maximum is permitted at measured points A, B, C and D.
D. Adjustment of the Sliding Window Panel to Get Out-of-flush Dimension A1
(1) If out-of-flush dimension A1 is not correct, adjust the sliding window panel:
(a) Release the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
(b) Remove the circlips (42), (45), (46) and (51).
(c) Remove the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50).
(d) Remove and discard the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
(e) Install the new AIPC 56-12-11-02-185 LOCKWASHER (52) and the new AIPC 56-12-11-02-185 LOCKWASHER (53).
(f) Install the new AIPC 56-12-11-03-185 LOCKWASHER (54) and the new AIPC 56-12-11-03-185 LOCKWASHER (55).
(g) Install the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50).
(h) Turn the eccentrics (40), (43), (48) and (49) to get out-of-flush dimension A1.
(i) TORQUE the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50) to between 22 and 20 m.N (16.22 and 14.75 lbf.ft )

(j) Safety the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50) with the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
(k) Install the circlips (42), (45), (46) and (51).
(2) Adjustment of the latches (90):
(a) Make sure that the sliding window is closed.
(b) Make sure that clearance J2 between the latches (90) and the locking pins (91) is between 0 mm (0.0000 in.) and 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
(c) If clearance J2 is not in tolerance, turn the eccentric of the locking pins (91) on the frame.
Subtask 56-12-11-220-083-A (1) If out-of-flush dimension A1 is not correct, adjust the sliding window panel:
(a) Release the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
(b) Remove the circlips (42), (45), (46) and (51).
(c) Remove the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50).
(d) Remove and discard the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
(e) Install the new AIPC 56-12-11-02-185 LOCKWASHER (52) and the new AIPC 56-12-11-02-185 LOCKWASHER (53).
(f) Install the new AIPC 56-12-11-03-185 LOCKWASHER (54) and the new AIPC 56-12-11-03-185 LOCKWASHER (55).
(g) Install the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50).
(h) Turn the eccentrics (40), (43), (48) and (49) to get out-of-flush dimension A1.
(i) TORQUE the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50) to between 22 and 20 m.N (16.22 and 14.75 lbf.ft )
. (j) Safety the nuts (41), (44), (47) and (50) with the lockwashers (52), (53), (54) and (55).
(k) Install the circlips (42), (45), (46) and (51).
(2) Adjustment of the latches (90):
(a) Make sure that the sliding window is closed.
(b) Make sure that clearance J2 between the latches (90) and the locking pins (91) is between 0 mm (0.0000 in.) and 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
(c) If clearance J2 is not in tolerance, turn the eccentric of the locking pins (91) on the frame.
E. Adjustment of the Handle
(1) Do a check of the load necessary to operate the handle during the opening.
(b) Use the DYNAMOMETER 25 DAN (56.2 LBF) to measure the load on the handle perpendicularly.
Subtask 56-12-11-210-075-A (1) Do a check of the load necessary to operate the handle during the opening.
NOTE: The load on the handle is directly related to the out-of-flush adjustment of the window.
(a) Operate the sliding window. (b) Use the DYNAMOMETER 25 DAN (56.2 LBF) to measure the load on the handle perpendicularly.
NOTE: The permitted load on the handle is 20 +2 daN or -3 daN (44.9618 +4.4962 lbf or -6.7443 lbf).
(c) If the load is not in the tolerance, adjust the sliding window again. NOTE: We recommend that you adjust the window to get a load on the handle that is almost the maximum limit.
F. Sealing Check
(1) Close the sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-410-001).
(2) Apply water to the periphery of the sliding window from the outer side of the aircraft.
(3) After 10 minutes, make sure that there is no water leakage at the window frame.
(4) If water goes into the cockpit, make sure that the adjustments are correct and that the seal is in the correct condition.
(5) Dry the sliding window, if necessary.
Subtask 56-12-11-420-082-A (1) Close the sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-410-001).
(2) Apply water to the periphery of the sliding window from the outer side of the aircraft.
(3) After 10 minutes, make sure that there is no water leakage at the window frame.
(4) If water goes into the cockpit, make sure that the adjustments are correct and that the seal is in the correct condition.
(5) Dry the sliding window, if necessary.
G. Installation of the Sliding Window Lining
(1) Install the structural bracket assembly, if removed (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-400-802).
(2) Lift the plate (17) and put the sliding window lining (16) in position.
(3) Put the plate (17) in position and install the screws (12).
(4) Tighten the screws (12).
(5) Install the screws (11) and tighten them.
(6) Install the washer (2) and the screw (3).
(7) Tighten the screw (3).
(8) Install the blanking plug (4).
(9) Open the sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-010-001).
(10) Install the guide (13) on the sliding window lining (16) with the washer (14) and the screw (15).
(11) Tighten the screw (15).
(12) Install the washer (8) and the screw (9).
(13) Tighten the screw (9).
(14) Put the handle (6) in position.
(15) Install the washer (20) and the screw (21). Do not fully tighten the screw (21) at this time.
(16) Install the washer (18) and the screw (19).
(17) Tighten the screw (19) and (21).
(18) Put the pencil holder assembly (7) in position.
(19) Install the screw (5) and tighten it.
(20) Make sure that pins A/C and A/D of the electrical connector (10) of the sliding window are connected to pins B/X and B/W of the Window Heat Computer (WHC).
(21) Connect the electrical connector (10) to the receptacle of the sliding window. Refer to ASM 304201 or ASM 304202.
(22) Close the sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-410-001).
Subtask 56-12-11-420-083-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the structural bracket assembly, if removed (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-400-802).
(2) Lift the plate (17) and put the sliding window lining (16) in position.
(3) Put the plate (17) in position and install the screws (12).
(4) Tighten the screws (12).
(5) Install the screws (11) and tighten them.
(6) Install the washer (2) and the screw (3).
(7) Tighten the screw (3).
(8) Install the blanking plug (4).
(9) Open the sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-010-001).
(10) Install the guide (13) on the sliding window lining (16) with the washer (14) and the screw (15).
(11) Tighten the screw (15).
(12) Install the washer (8) and the screw (9).
(13) Tighten the screw (9).
(14) Put the handle (6) in position.
(15) Install the washer (20) and the screw (21). Do not fully tighten the screw (21) at this time.
(16) Install the washer (18) and the screw (19).
(17) Tighten the screw (19) and (21).
(18) Put the pencil holder assembly (7) in position.
(19) Install the screw (5) and tighten it.
(20) Make sure that pins A/C and A/D of the electrical connector (10) of the sliding window are connected to pins B/X and B/W of the Window Heat Computer (WHC).
(21) Connect the electrical connector (10) to the receptacle of the sliding window. Refer to ASM 304201 or ASM 304202.
(22) Close the sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-410-001).
H. Installation of Component
(1) Install the EFB DU mounting-bracket, if removed (Ref. AMM D/O 46-26-22-40).
(2) Install the EFB DU, if removed (Ref. AMM D/O 46-26-22-40).
(3) Install the personal tablet support, if removed (Ref. AMM D/O 25-13-41-40).
(4) Install the reading lights, if removed (Ref. AMM TASK 33-12-12-400-001):
(a) FOR [8DG1] (WINDOW-SLIDING, L)
