A. Get Access
WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below access door 314AR.
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the APU.
   (3) Open access door 314AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-23-010-801).
   (4) Get access to the inspection area.

B. Preparation of the inspection area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the fittings with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (3) Clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (4) Remove the TPS layer, if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-51-00-210-062-A
A. Inspection:
   (1) Examine the tail-cone attachment fittings for:
  • corrosion,
  • broken or missing parts.
NOTE: If necessary:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 53511200 for the tail-cone attachment fittings at FR77
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 53561100 and SRM 53561101 for the tail-cone attachment fittings at FR78
    for the correct repair procedure.

B. Application of Temporary Protection System
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON THE OXYGEN SYSTEMS. MAKE SURE THAT THE TEMPORARY PROTECTION DOES NOT GET:
  • ON COMPOSITE PARTS, CONTROL CABLES, PULLEYS,TEFLON BEARINGS.
  • ON LUBRICATED SURFACES.
  • IN DRAIN VALVES OR OTHER ORIFICES.
TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON OR IN THESE PARTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Apply masking paper or masking tape Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) on the equipment and fittings adjacent to the area.
   (2) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. Make sure that the TPS layer is in the correct condition after the check. if the TPS is in the correct condition, apply a new layer as a spray on the remaining layer.
   (3) Replace the damaged TPS layer with a new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (4) If you used solvents, high-pressure water, steam and/or cleaning agents to clean the TPS layer:
     (a) Apply a full new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
     (b) If there is no TPS layer, apply a new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (5) Remove the masking paper or the masking tape.
5. Close-up
Subtask 53-51-00-410-063-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close access door 314AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-23-410-801).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
