BEFORE YOU INSTALL/REMOVE THE GSE-TOOL, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE APPLICABLE GSE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. WHILE YOU OPERATE THIS TOOL, CAREFULLY OBEY THEM. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

Subtask 53-45-15-916-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the scuff plate mating surface of the fuselage skin with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the scuff plates are in the correct condition and are not damaged. If necessary, replace the damaged scuff plates.
(3) Before you install new or the removed scuff plates, you must treat the scuff plates (1) and (4) as follows:
(a) Clean the mating surface of each plate with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Sand blast (in accordance with PMS 01-01-14) or use the SCOTCHBRITE on the inner areas of the two scuff plate sections.
(c) Apply Primer Polyurethane Paint_- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04EAC2) to the sand blasted areas.
(4) Make sure that the scuff plates are in the correct condition.
(5) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(6) Put the PUMP - VACUUM adjacent to the bulk cargo-compartment door.
Subtask 53-45-15-420-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the scuff plate mating surface of the fuselage skin with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the scuff plates are in the correct condition and are not damaged. If necessary, replace the damaged scuff plates.
(3) Before you install new or the removed scuff plates, you must treat the scuff plates (1) and (4) as follows:

(c) Apply Primer Polyurethane Paint_- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04EAC2) to the sand blasted areas.
(4) Make sure that the scuff plates are in the correct condition.
(5) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(6) Put the PUMP - VACUUM adjacent to the bulk cargo-compartment door.
NOTE: The use of a strong vacuum pump for the attachment of the scuff plates is recommended.
B. Installation of the Scuff Plates
(1) Apply adhesive tape, 3M Scotch 471F-15, Blue, approximately 15 mm (0.5906 in.) wide to the inner edges of the scuff plate sections (1) and (4).
(2) Around the inner areas of the scuff plate screw holes, apply the adhesive tape to a radius of approximately 20 mm (0.7874 in.).
(3) Apply a layer of the release agent, Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) to the remaining inner areas of the scuff plates (1) and (4).
(5) If necessary, apply Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the inside of the scuff plates (1) and (4).
(6) Remove the adhesive tape from the scuff plates and put the scuff plate sections (1) and (4) in position.
(7) Align the scuff plate sections (1) and (4).
(8) Install and tighten the screws (2) and the washers (3).
(9) Remove unwanted sealant from around the scuff plates.
(10) Install the PUMP - VACUUM.
(11) Attach the Sealing Profile-Vaccum Bag Sealant - - (Material No.14JEA1) (11) around and approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.) from the edges of the scuff plates.
(12) Install a sheet of porous felt (12) on the scuff plates.
(13) Attach the porous felt (12) with Double Sided Adhesive Tape-- Foam Base - (Material No.05PAC1) to the scuff plates.
(14) Attach the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (14) to the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13).
(15) Put the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13) in position on the scuff plates.
(17) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM and increase the vacuum around the scuff plate to 0 -0 + 0.1 bar(0.0000 - 0.0000 + 1.4504 psi).
(18) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM as long as necessary during the sealant cure time (for the sealant cure time, refer to the sealant manufacturer's instructions).
(19) Disconnect the PUMP - VACUUM.
(20) Remove the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13).
(21) Remove the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (14) from the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13).
(22) Remove the porous felt (12).
(23) Remove the seal tape (11).
(24) Clean the scuff plates and adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(25) Apply Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) around the edges of the scuff plates, to the anchor nuts (5) and (6) and around the door sill.
(26) Let the sealant dry (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
(27) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the sealant around the door sill, around the edges of the scuff plates and to the anchor nuts (5) and (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003).
5. Close-up(1) Apply adhesive tape, 3M Scotch 471F-15, Blue, approximately 15 mm (0.5906 in.) wide to the inner edges of the scuff plate sections (1) and (4).
(2) Around the inner areas of the scuff plate screw holes, apply the adhesive tape to a radius of approximately 20 mm (0.7874 in.).
(3) Apply a layer of the release agent, Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) to the remaining inner areas of the scuff plates (1) and (4).
NOTE: The correct application of the release agent makes sure that the scuff plates are not damaged during the next removal procedure.
(4) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the scuff plate mating area of the fuselage skin (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001). (5) If necessary, apply Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the inside of the scuff plates (1) and (4).
(6) Remove the adhesive tape from the scuff plates and put the scuff plate sections (1) and (4) in position.
(7) Align the scuff plate sections (1) and (4).
(8) Install and tighten the screws (2) and the washers (3).
(9) Remove unwanted sealant from around the scuff plates.
(10) Install the PUMP - VACUUM.
(11) Attach the Sealing Profile-Vaccum Bag Sealant - - (Material No.14JEA1) (11) around and approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.) from the edges of the scuff plates.
(12) Install a sheet of porous felt (12) on the scuff plates.
(13) Attach the porous felt (12) with Double Sided Adhesive Tape-- Foam Base - (Material No.05PAC1) to the scuff plates.
(14) Attach the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (14) to the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13).
(15) Put the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13) in position on the scuff plates.
NOTE: Make sure that the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) make an overlap of the seal tape by approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.).
(16) Connect the PUMP - VACUUM to the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (14). (17) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM and increase the vacuum around the scuff plate to 0 -0 + 0.1 bar(0.0000 - 0.0000 + 1.4504 psi).
(18) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM as long as necessary during the sealant cure time (for the sealant cure time, refer to the sealant manufacturer's instructions).
(19) Disconnect the PUMP - VACUUM.
(20) Remove the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13).
(21) Remove the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (14) from the Film-Bagging for Composite Manufacturing - - (Material No.14HCA1) (13).
(22) Remove the porous felt (12).
(23) Remove the seal tape (11).
(24) Clean the scuff plates and adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(25) Apply Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) around the edges of the scuff plates, to the anchor nuts (5) and (6) and around the door sill.
(26) Let the sealant dry (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
(27) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the sealant around the door sill, around the edges of the scuff plates and to the anchor nuts (5) and (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003).
Subtask 53-45-15-410-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the floor panel 162JF at the entrance to the bulk cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 53-42-17-400-001).
(3) Close the bulk cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the floor panel 162JF at the entrance to the bulk cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 53-42-17-400-001).
(3) Close the bulk cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
