A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft is in the same configuration as for the removal task.

Subtask 53-45-15-916-050-A
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the mating surfaces of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the fuselage skin with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a clean lint-free cloth.
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) are in the correct condition and are not damaged SRM 534169. If necessary, replace the damaged scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(5) Put the PUMP - VACUUM adjacent to the applicable aft passenger/crew door.
Subtask 53-45-15-420-050-A (1) Clean the mating surfaces of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the fuselage skin with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a clean lint-free cloth.
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

(5) Put the PUMP - VACUUM adjacent to the applicable aft passenger/crew door.
B. Installation of the Scuff Plates
(1) Use the SCOTCHBRITE to remove the unwanted sealant from the fuselage structure and the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(2) Apply the TAPE - ADHESIVE on the fuselage skin to agree with the contours of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(3) Apply the TAPE - ADHESIVE approximately 15 mm (0.5906 in.) wide on the inner edges of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(4) Apply the TAPE - ADHESIVE on a radius of approximately 20 mm (0.7874 in.) around the inner areas of the scuff plate screw-holes.
(5) Apply a layer of Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) on the remaining inner areas of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the screws (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
(8) If necessary, apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) on the inner surface of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(9) Remove the adhesive tape from the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(10) Put the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) in the correct position on the fuselage structure.
(11) Install the washers (2) and the screws (1).
(12) Tighten the screws (1).
(13) Remove all the unwanted sealant from around the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(14) Install the support and the PUMP - VACUUM.
(15) Apply the seal tape Sealing Profile-Vaccum Bag Sealant - - (Material No.14JEA1) (6) around the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and at approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.) from their edges.
(16) Install the sheet of porous felt (7) on the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(17) Attach the sheet of porous felt (7) with Double Sided Adhesive Tape-- Foam Base - (Material No.05PAC1) to the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(18) Attach the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (9) to the vacuum foil (8).
(19) Put the vacuum foil (8) in position on the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(20) Make sure that the vacuum foil (8) has an overlap with the seal tape (6) of approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.).
(21) Connect the PUMP - VACUUM to the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (9).
(22) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM to increase the vacuum around the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) to 0 -0 + 0.1 bar (0.0000 - 0.0000 + 1.4504 psi).
(23) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM as necessary during the sealant cure time.
(25) Remove the vacuum foil (8).
(26) Remove the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (9) from the vacuum foil (8).
(27) Remove the sheet of porous felt (7).
(28) Remove the seal tape (6).
(29) Clean the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(30) Sealant application:
(a) If the sealant cure time is sufficient before the flight:
1 Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the contour of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and on the area of the door sill (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
2 Let the sealant dry.
(b) If the sealant cure time is not sufficient before the flight:
1 Apply a minimum of two layers of high-speed tape Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) with an overlap of approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.).
3 Do a visual inspection of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the adjacent area to make sure that there is no damage NTM 519000.
4 Clean the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
5 Let the area dry.
6 Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the contour of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and on the area of the door sill (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
7 Let the sealant dry.
(31) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) on the sealant around the door sill and on the sealant around the edges of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003).
5. Close-up(1) Use the SCOTCHBRITE to remove the unwanted sealant from the fuselage structure and the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(2) Apply the TAPE - ADHESIVE on the fuselage skin to agree with the contours of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(3) Apply the TAPE - ADHESIVE approximately 15 mm (0.5906 in.) wide on the inner edges of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(4) Apply the TAPE - ADHESIVE on a radius of approximately 20 mm (0.7874 in.) around the inner areas of the scuff plate screw-holes.
(5) Apply a layer of Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) on the remaining inner areas of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
NOTE: The correct application of the release agent prevents damage to the scuff plates during the subsequent removal procedure.
(6) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) on the mating area of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) at the fuselage skin (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001). (7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the screws (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
(8) If necessary, apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) on the inner surface of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(9) Remove the adhesive tape from the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(10) Put the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) in the correct position on the fuselage structure.
(11) Install the washers (2) and the screws (1).
(12) Tighten the screws (1).
(13) Remove all the unwanted sealant from around the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(14) Install the support and the PUMP - VACUUM.
(15) Apply the seal tape Sealing Profile-Vaccum Bag Sealant - - (Material No.14JEA1) (6) around the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and at approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.) from their edges.
(16) Install the sheet of porous felt (7) on the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(17) Attach the sheet of porous felt (7) with Double Sided Adhesive Tape-- Foam Base - (Material No.05PAC1) to the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(18) Attach the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (9) to the vacuum foil (8).
(19) Put the vacuum foil (8) in position on the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5).
(20) Make sure that the vacuum foil (8) has an overlap with the seal tape (6) of approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.).
(21) Connect the PUMP - VACUUM to the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (9).
(22) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM to increase the vacuum around the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) to 0 -0 + 0.1 bar (0.0000 - 0.0000 + 1.4504 psi).
(23) Operate the PUMP - VACUUM as necessary during the sealant cure time.
NOTE: The sealant manufacturer's instructions give the sealant cure time.
(24) Disconnect the PUMP - VACUUM from the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (9). (25) Remove the vacuum foil (8).
(26) Remove the 98A52307557000 VALVE-VACUUM,SCUFF PLATE (9) from the vacuum foil (8).
(27) Remove the sheet of porous felt (7).
(28) Remove the seal tape (6).
(29) Clean the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(30) Sealant application:
(a) If the sealant cure time is sufficient before the flight:
1 Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the contour of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and on the area of the door sill (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
2 Let the sealant dry.
(b) If the sealant cure time is not sufficient before the flight:
1 Apply a minimum of two layers of high-speed tape Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) with an overlap of approximately 30 mm (1.1811 in.).
NOTE: This is to prevent aircraft structure corrosion, air leak noise and vibration of the scuff plates.
2 Remove the high-speed tape before 24 hours since you applied it. 3 Do a visual inspection of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the adjacent area to make sure that there is no damage NTM 519000.
4 Clean the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
5 Let the area dry.
6 Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the contour of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) and on the area of the door sill (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
7 Let the sealant dry.
(31) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) on the sealant around the door sill and on the sealant around the edges of the scuff plates (3), (4) and (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003).

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the aft passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
