SPECIAL DETAILED INSPECTION (LFEC) OF UPPER SKIN OF LONGITUDINAL LAP JOINTS, INCLUDING CRACK STOPPER AREAS AT STRINGER 6 BETWEEN FR 47 (A320/A321) / FR 47/51 (A319) / FR 47/54 (A318) AND FR 70, EXTERNAL SURFACE, LH/RH.
NOTE: The effectivity of this task is "ALL". To know if this task is applicable to your aircraft, refer to the ALI task applicability.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 53-41-00-010-236-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 6M (20 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the inspection area.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
   (2) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.

B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If necessary for the Non-destructive Testing Manual (NTM) task:
  • Remove the sealant from the inspection area with a non-metallic scraper and/or
  • Remove the paint from the inspection area.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-41-00-280-051-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection of the external surface of the longitudinal lap-joints upper-skin (crack stopper areas included) for damage and discontinuities NTM 534101:
     (a) On the left and right sides:
       1 For A318, do this inspection at stringers 6 between FR47/54 and FR70.
       2 For A319, do this inspection at stringers 6 between FR47/51 and FR70.
       3 For A320 and A321, do this inspection at stringers 6 between FR47 and FR70.
   (2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection:
     (a) Corrosion:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

B. Sealant or Paint Application
   (1) If the NTM procedure told you to remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area, apply sealant SRM 512400 or paint SRM 512300 on the inspection area.
5. Close-up
Subtask 53-41-00-410-228-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
