SPECIAL DETAILED INSPECTION (LFEC) OF UPPER SKIN OF LONGITUDINAL LAP JOINTS, INCLUDING CRACK STOPPER AREAS AT STRINGER 32 LH, BETWEEN FR 47 AND FR 53 (A320) / FR 48 (A321), FR 47/51 AND FR 57 (A319), FR 47/54 AND FR 59 (A318) AND AT STR 32 RH, BETW. FR 47 AND FR 47.5 (A321), AND AT STR. 41 RH, BETW. FR 47 AND FR 51 (A320) / FR 47.4 (A321), FR 47/51 AND FR 55 (A319), FR47/54 AND FR 57 (A318), EXTERNAL SURFACE.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 53-41-00-010-237-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable area:
  • For the left side, at zone 197
  • For the right side, at zone 198.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002):
     (a) For the left side:
     (b) For the right side:

B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If there is a TPS layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (4) Remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area if this is necessary for the Non-destructive Testing Manual (NTM) task.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-41-00-280-052-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection of the external surface of the longitudinal lap-joints upper-skin (crack stopper areas included) for damage and discontinuities NTM 534104:
     (a) On the left side:
  • For A318, do this inspection at stringer 32 between FR47/54 and FR59.
  • For A319, do this inspection at stringer 32 between FR47/51 and FR57.
  • For A320, do this inspection at stringer 32 between FR47 and FR53.
  • For A321, do this inspection at stringer 32 between FR47 and FR48.
     (b) On the right side:
  • For A318, do this inspection at stringer 41 between FR47/54 and FR57.
  • For A319, do this inspection at stringer 41 between FR47/51 and FR55.
  • For A320, do this inspection at stringer 41 between FR47 and FR51.
  • For A321, do this inspection at stringer 32 between FR47 and FR47.5.
  • For A321, do this inspection at stringer 41 between FR47 and FR47.4.
   (2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection:
     (a) Corrosion:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

B. Sealant or Paint Application
   (1) If the NTM procedure told you to remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area, apply sealant SRM 512400 or paint SRM 512300 on the inspection area.
Subtask 53-41-00-916-127-A
C. Check and Application of the TPS Layer
   (1) If you removed the TPS at the ”Preparation of the Inspection Area”, apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (2) If you did not remove the TPS at the ”Preparation of the Inspection Area”, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001) and make the decision to apply a new TPS layer or not.
   (3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-400-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-400-002):
     (a) For the left side:

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
