3. Job Set-up
Subtask 53-41-00-010-094-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Remove the forward and aft scuff plates at the aft passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 53-45-15-000-001).
   (2) Remove the necessary frame linings and the insulation, to get access to the inner surfaces of the inspection areas (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-000-004).

B. Preparation of the Inspection Areas
   (1) Make sure that the inner and outer surfaces of the inspection areas are clean and smooth.
WARNING: OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU USE THIS/THESE MATERIAL/S. USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND A MASK.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS A GOOD FLOW OF AIR THROUGH THE WORK AREA WHEN YOU USE SPECIAL MATERIALS. IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE MATERIALS ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH A FLOW OF CLEAN WATER FOR BETWEEN 10 AND 15 MINUTES.
  • GET IMMEDIATE MEDICAL AID IF IRRITATION OCCURS.
DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE MATERIAL. DO NOT SMOKE WHEN YOU USE THE MATERIAL. DO NOT USE THE MATERIAL NEAR A FLAME, SPARKS OR SOURCES OF HEAT. THESE MATERIALS ARE DANGEROUS: THEY ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANTS.
   (2) Clean the inner and outer surfaces of the inspection areas with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Trichloroethane Legacy (Material No.08BBU9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make sure you remove:
  • the used sealant from the outer surface of the inspection areas
  • the unwanted material from the inner surface of the inspection areas.
   (4) Make the inner and outer surfaces of the inspection areas smooth with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 280).
   (5) Make sure you remove the damaged paint and the paint runs from the surfaces.
   (6) Make sure the inspection areas are clean and dry before you continue.
   (7) Do a visual inspection of the inner and outer surfaces of the inspection areas. Look for damage, corrosion, and defects in the shape of the surfaces.
   (8) If you find damage :
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51740000 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 534111 for the necessary data.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-41-00-220-054-A
A. Special Detailed Inspection Procedure
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection (HFEC & X-RAY) of the inner doublers at the lower corners of the cutout for the AFT passenger/crew door, LH/RH. Do this on the areas of the doublers which agree with the shape of the forward and aft scuff plates NTM 534133.
   (2) Do a special detailed inspection (HFEC & X-RAY) of the inner doublers at the lower corners of the cutout for the AFT passenger/crew door, LH/RH. Do this at these locations at the forward and aft corners:
  • on the edge of the doublers
  • on the areas of the skin and doublers which agree with the shape of the scuff plates NTM 534133.
   (3) Write a report about the damage you find during the inspection procedure.
   (4) If you find damage :
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51740000 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 534111 for the necessary data.
5. Close-up
Subtask 53-41-00-370-055-A
A. Repair of the Surface Protection
   (1) If necessary, repair the paint coatings in the inspection areas (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-001).
Subtask 53-41-00-410-095-A
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the insulation and the frame linings you removed for access (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-400-008) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-45-400-005).
   (3) Install the corner scuff plates at the aft passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 53-45-15-400-001).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
