WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever when you work near the flaps/slats.
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the slat/flap control lever to tell persons not to operate the slats/flaps.
   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the belly fairing.
   (4) Remove these fairings/access panels:

B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If there is a TPS layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, removed the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-41-00-210-104-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a general visual inspection of the fuselage external surface and the belly-fairing support structure, below the belly fairing, for damage or discontinuities:
     (a) For A320, do this between FR30 and FR53.
     (b) For A321, do this between FR35.3 and FR48.
     (c) For A319, do this between FR27 and FR57.
NOTE: This includes the part of the aft cargo door below the belly fairing.
     (d) For A318, do this between FR27 and FR59.
NOTE: This includes the part of the aft cargo door below the belly fairing.
   (2) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion:
  • If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
     (c) Paint layer damage:
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512300) for general data for paint layers.

B. Check and Application of the TPS Layer
   (1) If the TPS was removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (2) If the TPS was not removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

B. Check and Application of the TPS Layer
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) TYPE 3 ON THE MOVABLE COMPONENTS. USE ONLY TPS TYPE 1 GRADE 2. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE MECHANISMS WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
   (1) If the TPS was removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (2) If the TPS was not removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

     (b) If you did not remove the TPS at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
     (c) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) and Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
