3. Job Set-up
Subtask 53-41-00-010-087-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the cargo door.
   (3) If installed, remove the applicable additional center tank (Ref. AMM 28-11-27, Page Block 401).
   (4) If necessary, remove the applicable floor-panels from the aft cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 53-42-14-000-001).
   (5) If installed, remove the ball mats 152VF and 152WF (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-000-001).
   (6) Remove the insulation blankets from the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
NOTE: Identify the insulation blankets for installation.

B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
WARNING: OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU USE THIS/THESE MATERIAL/S. USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND A MASK.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS A GOOD FLOW OF AIR THROUGH THE WORK AREA WHEN YOU USE SPECIAL MATERIALS. IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE MATERIALS ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH A FLOW OF CLEAN WATER FOR BETWEEN 10 AND 15 MINUTES.
  • GET IMMEDIATE MEDICAL AID IF IRRITATION OCCURS.
DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE MATERIAL. DO NOT SMOKE WHEN YOU USE THE MATERIAL. DO NOT USE THE MATERIAL NEAR A FLAME, SPARKS OR SOURCES OF HEAT. THESE MATERIALS ARE DANGEROUS: THEY ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANTS.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make sure that the inspection areas are dry before you continue.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-41-00-210-070-A
A. Detailed Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the lock fittings and the adjacent structure around the aft cargo-compartment door.
     (a) For A319, do this between FR56 and FR58A.
  • Look for corrosion and other damage to the metal parts and to the surface protection.
     (b) For A320 and A321, do this between FR53 and FR55A.
  • Look for corrosion and other damage to the metal parts and to the surface protection.
   (2) If you find corrosion damage:
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 51220000 for the general corrosion-protection data.
     (b) Repair the corroded areas (Ref. AMM TASK 51-74-11-300-001).
   (3) If you find other damage to the metal parts:
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 51110000 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) Refer to the ASRM SRM 51111100 for the allowable damage limits.
     (c) Repair the minor damage (Ref. AMM TASK 51-73-11-300-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 51-73-11-300-004).
     (d) If you find other damage to the metal parts, that is more than the limits for minor damage, you must:
       1 Refer to the ASRM for the material details, the item identification and the action/repair data:

A. Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) and Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (3) If removed, install the ball mats 152VF and 152WF (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-400-001).
   (4) If removed,install the applicable floor-panels in the aft cargo-compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 53-42-14-400-001).
   (5) If removed, install the applicable additional center tank (Ref. AMM 28-11-27, Page Block 401).
   (6) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (7) Remove the access platform(s).
   (8) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
