A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the BULK cargo-compartment door
   (2) Open the BULK cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-006).

B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
F Upper Corners of the Cutout and Sealing Profile at the BULK Cargo-Compartment Door ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Make sure that the surface of the inspection area is clean and smooth.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (2) If necessary, clean the surface of the inspection area with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If necessary, make the surface of the inspection area smooth with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 280).
   (4) Make sure the inspection area is clean and dry before you continue.
   (5) Do a visual inspection of the surface of the inspection area. Look for damage, and defects in the shape of the surface.
   (6) If you find damage :
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51740000 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 534111 for the necessary data.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-41-00-210-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Special Detailed Inspection Procedure
   (1) Do the special detailed inspection of the fuselage skin at the cutout for the bulk cargo door. Do this at the forward and aft upper corners of the cutout NTM 534171.
NOTE: If the inspection areas are painted , before you do the inspection you must:
  • refer to the procedure steps in the NTM NTM 534171, 'Preparation for Inspection'
  • measure the thickness of the paint at the inspection areas
  • make sure that the paint thickness is less than the given limit.
   (2) Write a report about the damage you find during the inspection procedure.
   (3) If you find damage:
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51740000 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 534111 for the necessary data.
5. Close-up
Subtask 53-41-00-370-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Repair of the Surface Protection
   (1) If necessary, repair the paint coatings in the inspection areas (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-001).
Subtask 53-41-00-410-077-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the BULK cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
