A. Get Access
WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR ARE CLEAR.
   (1) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the MLG compartment.

B. Preparation of the Inspection Areas
   (1) Make sure that the surfaces of the inspection areas are clean and smooth.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (2) If necessary, clean the inspection areas with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) . Make sure the areas are dry before you continue.
   (3) If necessary, make the surface of the inspection areas smooth with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 280).
   (4) Make sure that the inspection areas are clean and dry before you continue.
   (5) Do a visual inspection of the surfaces of the inspection areas. Look for damage and defects in the shape of the surfaces.
   (6) If you find damage:
     (a) Refer to the SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the SRM 517400 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • Refer to the SRM 517300 for the repair of the minor damage.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-31-00-220-059-A
A. Special Detailed Inspection Procedure
   (1) Do the special detailed inspection NTM 533155 of the elliptical cutout of the keelbeam box at FR46. Do this at the inner and outer edges of the cutout in the side panel LH/RH.
NOTE: If the edge of the cutout is painted, before you do the inspection you must:
  • refer to the procedure steps in the NTM NTM 511008, 'Preparation for Inspection'
  • measure the thickness of the paint at the inspection areas
  • make sure that the paint thickness is less than the given limit.
   (2) Write a report about the damage you find during the inspection procedure.
   (3) If you find damage:
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51740000 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51730000 for the repair of the minor damage.
NOTE: No repair data is given in the ASRM SRM 533611 for the elliptical cutout in the side panel of the keelbeam at FR46. If you find damage which is more than the limits for minor damage:
  • you must contact AIRBUS INDUSTRIE for the necessary corrective action procedure.
5. Close-up
Subtask 53-31-00-370-055-A
A. Repair of the Surface Protection
   (1) If necessary, repair the paint coatings in the inspection areas (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-001).
Subtask 53-31-00-410-088-A
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
