A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
Subtask 53-31-00-010-081-A
B. Get Access
   (1) Remove the necessary upper sidewall panels LH/RH in the area of FR42 and FR43 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-43-000-001).
   (2) Remove the necessary insulation blankets in the area of STGR18 LH/RH at FR42 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).

C. Preparation of the Inspection Areas
   (1) Make sure that the surfaces of the inspection areas are clean and smooth.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (2) If necessary, clean the inspection areas with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make sure that the inspection areas are dry before you continue.
   (4) If necessary, make the surface of the inspection areas smooth with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 280) .
   (5) Do a visual inspection of the surface of the inspection areas. Look for damage and defects in the shape of the surfaces.
   (6) If you find damage:
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51740000 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51730000 for the repair of the minor damage.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-31-00-220-056-A
A. Special Detailed Inspection
   (1) Do the special detailed inspection NTM 533138 of the internal lower skin of the longitudinal lap joint at the stringers 18 LH/RH. Do this at the stringer runout area at FR42.
NOTE: If the inspection areas are painted, before you do the inspection you must:
  • refer to the procedure steps in the NTM 533138, 'Preparation for Inspection'
  • measure the thickness of the paint at the inspection areas
  • make sure that the paint thickness is less than the given limit.
   (2) Write a report if you find damage during the inspection procedure.
   (3) If you find damage:
     (a) Refer to the ASRM SRM 511100 for the classification of the damage.
     (b) If you find corrosion damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 512200 for the general corrosion data
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51740000 for the repair of the corroded areas.
     (c) If you find other types of damage:
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 51730000 for the repair of the minor damage
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 53311101 for the allowable damage limits
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 53311102 for the correct repair procedure.
5. Close-up

A. Repair of the Surface Protection
   (1) If necessary, refer to the ASRM SRM 51751200 and repair the paint coatings in the inspection areas.
Subtask 53-31-00-410-079-A
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the insulation blankets in the area of STGR18 LH/RH at FR42 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (3) Install the upper sidewall panels LH/RH in the area of FR42 and FR43 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-43-400-001).
Subtask 53-31-00-860-057-A
C. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
