Subtask 53-31-00-010-133-A

A. Get Access

WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:

THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.

MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

(1) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the slat/flap control lever, when working near the slats/flaps.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the slat/flap control lever to tell persons not to operate the slats.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(4) Remove the quick-release access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002):

192EB 192FB from the right side.

B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Remove the TPS layer, if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 53-31-00-210-109-A

A. Inspection

Inspection Areas of the Aft Face of the Pressure Bulkhead and the Bottom Surface of the Pressure Deck

(1) Do a general visual inspection of the pressure-bulkhead aft face:

For A318, A319 and A320, do this at FR35.
For A321, do this at FR35.8.

(2) Make sure that there is no:
(a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
(3) Do a general visual inspection of the lower skin of the pressure-deck lower surface:

For A318, A319 and A320, do this between FR35 and FR36.
For A321, do this between FR35.8 and FR36.

(4) Make sure that there is no:
(a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

B. Application of Temporary Protection System

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON THE OXYGEN SYSTEMS. MAKE SURE THAT THE TEMPORARY PROTECTION DOES NOT GET:

ON COMPOSITE PARTS, CONTROL CABLES, PULLEYS,TEFLON BEARINGS.
ON LUBRICATED SURFACES.
IN DRAIN VALVES OR OTHER ORIFICES.

TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON OR IN THESE PARTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(1) Apply masking paper or masking tape Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) on the equipment and fittings adjacent to the area.
(2) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. Make sure that the TPS layer is in the correct condition after the check. If the TPS is in the correct condition, apply a new layer as a spray on the remaining layer.

(3) Replace the damaged TPS layer with a new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(4) If you used solvents, high-pressure water, steam and/or cleaning agents to clean the TPS layer:
(a) Apply a full new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(b) If there is no TPS layer, apply a new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(5) Remove the masking paper or the masking tape.

5. Close-up
Subtask 53-31-00-410-130-A

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the quick-release access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-400-002):

191BB and 191EB on the left side,
192EB and 192FB on the right side.

(3) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
(6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
