3. Job Set-up
Subtask 53-31-00-010-058-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Open the aft cargo-compartment doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the cargo doors.
   (3) If installed, remove the additional center tank(s) (Ref. AMM 28-11-27, Page Block 401).
   (4) Remove the aft cargo-compartment partitions 151AW, 151BW and 152BW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-001).
   (5) Remove the insulation blankets from the aft face of the pressure bulkhead (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
NOTE: Identify the insulation blankets for installation.

B. Preparation of the inspection area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Clean the aft face of the pressure bulkhead and the vertical beams with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (4) Remove the TPS layer, if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (5) Make sure that the inspection areas are dry before you continue.
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-31-00-210-057-A
A. Detailed Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the aft face of the pressure bulkhead at FR46 and the vertical beams above the aft cargo-compartment floor level. Look for:
  • cracks
  • corrosion.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the ASRM SRM 53311600 for the correct repair procedure.

B. Application of Temporary Protection System
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON THE OXYGEN SYSTEMS. MAKE SURE THAT THE TEMPORARY PROTECTION DOES NOT GET:
  • ON COMPOSITE PARTS, CONTROL CABLES, PULLEYS,TEFLON BEARINGS.
  • ON LUBRICATED SURFACES.
  • IN DRAIN VALVES OR OTHER ORIFICES.
TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON OR IN THESE PARTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Apply masking paper or masking tape Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) on the equipment and fittings adjacent to the area.
   (2) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. Make sure that the TPS layer is in the correct condition after the check. If the TPS is in the correct condition, apply a new layer as a spray on the remaining layer.
   (3) Replace the damaged TPS layer with a new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (4) If you used solvents, high-pressure water, steam and/or cleaning agents to clean the TPS layer:
     (a) Apply a full new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
     (b) If there is no TPS layer, apply a new layer of TPS on the inspection area, as recommended in the MPD (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (5) Remove the masking paper or the masking tape.

Subtask 53-31-00-410-058-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001)
   (3) Install the partitions 151AW, 151BW and 152BW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-001).
   (4) If removed, install the additional center tank(s) (Ref. AMM 28-11-27, Page Block 401).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (7) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
