4. Procedure
Subtask 53-25-41-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Forward Emergency-Exit-Door Scuff-Plates
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Drilling of the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates:
NOTE: This procedure is applicable only when you install new forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates.
     (a) Put the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) in position on the door sill.
     (b) Drill the attachment hole of the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates to the final diameter of 4.8 mm (0.1890 in.).
     (c) Remove and deburr the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9).
   (2) Make the top coat of the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) rough with SCOTCHBRITE on an area of:
  • 15 mm (0.59 in.) width on the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates periphery
  • 20 mm (0.79 in.) radius around each attachment hole.
   (3) Clean the rough area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (4) Apply TAPE - ADHESIVE on the rough area of the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates.
   (5) Apply a thin layer of Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) on the remaining inner areas of the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9).
NOTE: If you apply the release agent correctly, the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates will not be damaged during the subsequent removal procedure.
   (6) Remove the TAPE - ADHESIVE from the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9).
   (7) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) :
  • On the mating area of the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates, on the fuselage structure
  • On the rough area of the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates.
   (8) Put the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) in position on the fuselage structure.
   (9) Install the washers (4) and the screws (2) and (11) with Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (10) Tighten the screws (2) and (11).
   (11) Install the washers (6) and the screws (7) and (8) with Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (12) Install the nuts (1) and tighten them.
   (13) Remove the unwanted sealant around the forward emergency-exit-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9).
