DETAILED INSPECTION OF FUSELAGE INTERNAL STRUCTURE INCLUDING FORWARD FACE OF PRESSURE BULKHEAD, FROM STRINGER 38 LH/RH TO BOTTOM CENTERLINE
NOTE: This inspection is applicable to the area between FR24 and FR35. The type 2 Temporary Protection System (TPS) can be applied in these limits:
  • On the fuselage internal structure, from FR34 to FR35
  • On the forward face of the pressure bulkhead, from left and right stringer 38 to the bottom centerline.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 53-21-00-010-093-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at forward cargo-compartment door 825.
   (2) Open forward cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (3) Remove ACT4 and ACT6 from zones 137 and 138, if installed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-27-000-005).
   (4) If necessary, remove the ball mats (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-000-001).
   (5) Remove the applicable forward cargo-compartment floor-panels to get access to the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 53-22-14-000-001).
   (6) If necessary, remove the insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
   (7) If necessary, remove the water pipes (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-38-000-001).
   (8) f necessary, remove the drain pipe (Ref. AMM D/O 25-53-00-00).
   (9) If necessary, remove the air-conditioning distribution ducts (Ref. AMM TASK 21-20-00-010-001).
   (10) If necessary, cut the applicable tie wraps and move the electrical harnesses to get access to the inspection area.
   (11) If necessary, remove the hydraulic tubes:
     (a) Make sure that the hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
     (b) Remove the hydraulic tubes to get access to the inspection area.
   (12) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and the MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE to do this inspection.
Subtask 53-21-00-110-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If there is a TPS layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-21-00-220-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the fuselage internal structure between FR24 and FR35. This inspection includes the forward face of the pressure bulkhead, from left and right stringer 38 to the bottom centerline.
   (2) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion, refer to SRM 512200 for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to SRM 511100 for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
Subtask 53-21-00-916-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Check and Application of the TPS Layer
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) TYPE 3 ON THE MOVABLE COMPONENTS. USE ONLY TPS TYPE 1 GRADE 2. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE MECHANISMS WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
   (1) If the TPS was removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (2) If the TPS was not removed at the "Preparation of the Inspection Area", do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 53-21-00-942-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) If removed, install the hydraulic tubes (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-11-911-001).
   (3) If moved, put the electrical harnesses in position and safety them with the new TIE WRAP(S).
   (4) If removed, install the air-conditioning distribution ducts (Ref. AMM TASK 21-20-00-410-001).
   (5) If removed, install the drain pipe (Ref. AMM D/O 25-53-00-40).
   (6) If removed, install the water pipes (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-38-400-003).
   (7) If removed, install the insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (8) Install the forward cargo-compartment floor-panels (Ref. AMM TASK 53-22-14-400-001).
   (9) If removed, install the ball mats (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-22-400-001).
   (10) Install ACT4 and ACT6 in zones 137 and 138, if removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-27-400-005).
   (11) Close forward cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (12) Remove the access platform(s).
   (13) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
