A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 220.
   (2) Open forward passenger/crew door 831 or 841 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-15-15-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT DAMAGE THE FUSELAGE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCUFF PLATES.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
A. Removal of the Forward Passenger/Crew-Door Scuff-Plates
NOTE: The forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) can become damaged during the procedure that follows.
   (1) Remove the screws (1), (2), (4) and (7).
   (2) Remove the cover strip (8) from the fuselage structure.
   (3) Remove the sealant from around the edges of the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (4) Remove the nuts (6) and the screws (13).
   (5) Remove the screws (14) and (15).
   (6) Remove the screws (12) and the washers (11).
   (7) Remove the screws (16) and the washers (17).
   (8) Blow air on the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) with the HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F).
   (9) Make sure that the temperature of the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) is not more than 50 deg.C (122 deg.F).
   (10) Carefully put the WEDGE - NON METALLIC between the fuselage and the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9).
   (11) Remove the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) from the fuselage structure.
   (12) If necessary, replace the damaged forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) (if the structure is in the permitted damage limits).
Subtask 53-15-15-020-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT DAMAGE THE FUSELAGE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCUFF PLATES.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
A. Removal of the Forward Passenger/Crew-Door Scuff-Plates
   (1) Remove the screws (1), (2), (4) and (7).
   (2) Remove the cover strip (8) from the fuselage structure.
   (3) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC:
     (a) From around the edges of the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9)
     (b) Between the corners of the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (5) and (9) and the seal strikers (18).
   (4) Remove the nuts (6) and the screws (13).
   (5) Remove the screws (14) and (15).
   (6) Remove the screws (12) and the washers (11).
   (7) Remove the screws (16) and the washers (17).
   (8) Blow air on the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) with the HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F).
   (9) Make sure that the temperature of the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) is not more than 50 deg.C (122 deg.F).
   (10) Carefully put the WEDGE - NON METALLIC between the fuselage and the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9).
   (11) Remove the forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) from the fuselage structure.
   (12) If necessary, replace the damaged forward passenger/crew-door scuff-plates (3), (5) and (9) (if the structure is in the permitted damage limits).
