F. Check of the Clearances
   (1) Measure out-of-flush dimension A1 and peripheral clearance J1 at 17 points to make sure that the radome is correctly installed.
NOTE: If it is not easy to measure them at point 4 (and/or point 15), then you can replace point 4 (and/or point 15) with two new equidistant points (A and/or B). One of these points must be in the sub-frame area and the other must be in the FR1 static-port area. The maximum distance between these two new points (A and/or B) and the initial point 4 (and/or point 15) is 10 mm (0.3937 in.). At these new points (A and B), obey the values and tolerances for out-of-flush dimension A1 and peripheral clearance J1 (for the sub-frame area and the FR1 static-port area). The total number of measurement points is then 18 (if you replace point 4 or point 15) or 19 (if you replace point 4 and point 15).
NOTE: After the first flight that follows the radome installation, a radome deformation can occur because of the aerodynamic loads caused during the flight.
When the aircraft is on ground:
  • It is permitted for the monolithic border of the radome to touch the fuselage skin.
  • An into-wind step of 6 mm (0.2362 in.) on a length of 250 mm (9.8425 in.) is permitted between the radome and the fuselage skin (on the top left and right sides). No procedure is necessary.
If the measured values are more than these values, continue the procedure as follows:
   (2) Open and close the radome two times (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-11-010-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-11-410-001).
NOTE: This is to make sure that the radome is in the correct position for the check (no remaining tension).
   (3) Measure out-of-flush dimension A1 between the aircraft structure and the radome at:
  • 15 equidistant points: 1 thru 3, 5 thru 14, 16 and 17
  • 2 points at the top left and right corners of the radome: 4 and 15.
   (4) Measure out-of-flush dimension A1 perpendicularly to the local tangent of the external shape of the aircraft:
     (a) In the sub-frame area (points 1 thru 4 and 15 thru 17), make sure that out-of-flush dimension A1 is between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and +3.5 mm (0.1378 in.) on the radome periphery.
     (b) In the FR1 static-port area (points 5 thru 7 and 12 thru 14), make sure that out-of-flush dimension A1 is between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and +2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) on the radome periphery.
NOTE: FR1 out-of-flush dimension A1 between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and +3 mm (0.1181 in.) is permitted on 25% of the radome periphery.
     (c) In the FR1 intermediate area (points 8 and 11), make sure that out-of-flush dimension A1 is between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and +3.5 mm (0.1378 in.) on the radome periphery.
     (d) In the FR1 lower area (points 9 and 10), make sure that out-of-flush dimension A1 is between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and +4.5 mm (0.1772 in.) on the radome periphery.
     (e) In the FR1 static-port area (between points 7 and 8 or points 11 and 12), make sure that out-of-flush dimension A1 at the latches is between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and +2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) on the radome periphery.
   (5) Measure peripheral clearance J1 between the radome and the aircraft structure at:
  • 15 equidistant points: 1 thru 3, 5 thru 14, 16 and 17
  • 2 points at the top left and right corners of the radome: 4 and 15.
   (6) Measure peripheral clearance J1 parallel to the cutout of the structure panel and the external shape of the radome (and not to FR1).
   (7) Make sure that peripheral clearance J1 is between +0.2 mm (0.0079 in.) and +3.5 mm (0.1378 in.).
   (8) Examine peripheral clearance J1 on all the radome periphery, not only on the report points. If there are out-of-tolerance points between the point positions that the design office gave you, record them on the measurement report.
