A. General Visual Inspection of the Boot
(1) Do a general visual inspection of the boot for damage.
(a) If you find damage (a wrinkle or a superficial scratch that is not through the film), no repair action is necessary.
1 Do the steps that follow if these conditions occur:
1. When possible, repair the boot as follows to prevent the damage extension (and thus the boot removal):
2. If you think it is better, remove or replace the boot (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-11-000-007) and (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-11-400-007).
2 Do the steps that follow if one of these conditions occurs:
5. Close-up(1) Do a general visual inspection of the boot for damage.
(a) If you find damage (a wrinkle or a superficial scratch that is not through the film), no repair action is necessary.
NOTE: A wrinkle or a superficial scratch is minor damage.
(b) If you find damage (tearing, hole or scratch), measure the damaged area(s). 1 Do the steps that follow if these conditions occur:
- There is no damage with diameter I or J higher than 25 -0 mm or +0 mm (0.98 +0.00 in. or +0.00 in.) and,
- There is no distance X between two damaged areas that are less than 100 -0 mm or +0 mm (3.94 +0.00 in. or +0.00 in.):
- Make sure that no part of the boot causes a blockage of the pitot probe.
1. When possible, repair the boot as follows to prevent the damage extension (and thus the boot removal):
- Make the damaged area(s) smooth with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320) or a less abrasive paper.
- Apply Varnish Polyurethane-Low VOC - External Structure (Material No.04SBA3) on each damaged area and on a minimum of 5 -0 mm or +0 mm (0.20 +0.00 in. or +0.00 in.) around it.
2. If you think it is better, remove or replace the boot (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-11-000-007) and (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-11-400-007).
2 Do the steps that follow if one of these conditions occurs:
- The diameter of minimum one damaged area (for example I and/or J) is higher than 25 -0 mm or +0 mm (0.98 +0.00 in. or +0.00 in.) or,
- Minimum one distance between two damaged areas is less than 100 -0 mm or +0 mm (3.94 +0.00 in. or +0.00 in.).
- Make sure that no part of the boot causes a blockage of the pitot probe.
