Subtask 53-15-11-020-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Boot
CAUTION: DO THE REMOVAL PROCEDURE VERY CAREFULLY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE RADOME PAINT.
   (1) Make radial scores on the boot to divide it into parts but do not cut through it.
   (2) Remove the boot:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU PULL THE BOOT OFF PARALLEL WITH THE RADOME AND NOT IN A PERPENDICULAR DIRECTION. YOU MUST ALSO REMOVE THE BOOT SLOWLY AND SMOOTHLY. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE QUALITY OF THE RESULT, BECAUSE IT HELPS:
  • TO REMOVE AS MUCH ADHESIVE AS POSSIBLE
  • TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL REMOVAL OF PAINT.
     (a) For each part, lift the edge of the part and pull it parallel to the radome surface to release the boot.
     (b) Decrease the boot adhesive strength with the SPONGE and WATER - WARM, CLEAN (maximum 60 deg.C (140.00 deg.F)) to make the removal procedure easier.
   (3) Clean the radome with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
Subtask 53-15-11-200-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Inspection and Cleaning
NOTE: The steps that follow are necessary to make sure that no remaining material from the boot cause a blockage of the pitot probe.
   (1) Do an inspection/check of the pitot probe (Ref. AMM TASK 34-11-15-200-001).
   (2) Clean the pitot probe drain-holes (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-170-004).
