Removal of the Radome

TASK 53-15-11-000-001-A
Removal of the Radome

WARNING: BECAUSE THE RADOME IS LARGE AND HEAVY, A MINIMUM OF TWO PERSONS (OR SUPPORT EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS A CRANE AND SLINGS) ARE NECESSARY TO MOVE IT. IF YOU MOVE IT WITHOUT THE NECESSARY NUMBER OF PERSONS (OR SUPPORT EQUIPMENT), YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL OR DAMAGE TO THE RADOME.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THERE ARE NO PERSONS OR OBSTACLES IN THE RADOME AREA.
  • THE CAPT AND F/O DISPLAY SELECTOR SWITCHES ON THE WEATHER RADAR CONTROL UNIT ARE SET TO OFF (THIS PREVENTS SYSTEM EMISSIONS ON THE GROUND).
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE RADOME IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 25 KNOTS.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU INSTALL/REMOVE THE GSE-TOOL, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE APPLICABLE GSE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. WHILE YOU OPERATE THIS TOOL, CAREFULLY OBEY THEM. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO THE WORK IN AN AREA THAT HAS PROTECTION FROM WEATHER. WIND CAN CAUSE SUDDEN UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE ANTENNA, WITH A RISK OF DAMAGE. RAIN CAN GO INTO THE RADOME AREA AND CAUSE INCORRECT WEATHER DATA ON THE ND.
CAUTION: ONLY USE HAND TOOLS TO REMOVE OR INSTALL OR TORQUE THE RADOME OR SKIRT FASTENERS. IF YOU USE POWER OR IMPACT TOOLS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE RADOME OR THE ANTENNA, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES THAT ARE PAINTED WITH RADIO-ABSORBENT MATERIAL.
CAUTION: DO NOT PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE RADOME OR PUT ITEMS ON IT. FOR TEMPORARY STORAGE, PUT IT WITH THE TRIM EDGE DOWN ON A SOFT, FLAT SURFACE. IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL, YOU CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO IT.
CAUTION: MOVE THE RADOME CAREFULLY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE RADAR.
CAUTION: TAP THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT LIGHTLY. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH FORCE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RADOME.
CAUTION: DO THE REMOVAL PROCEDURE VERY CAREFULLY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE RADOME PAINT.
CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.
