A. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the zone 831 (841).
(2) Open the forward passenger/crew door 831 ( 841), (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).

B. Removal of the Component
(1) Remove the forward corner of the scuff plate from the sill of the forward passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-15-000-001).

C. Preparation of the Inspection Area

Door Frame - Forward Lower Corner below Scuff Plate - Inspection Area

WARNING: OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU USE THIS/THESE MATERIAL/S. USE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND A MASK.

(1) Clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , if necessary.
(2) Make sure that the surface of the inspection area is clean and smooth.
(3) Do a visual check of the inspection area for damage or discontinuities.
(4) Make sure that there is no:
(a) Corrosion damage:

If you find corrosion damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51220001 for types, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.

(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):

If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51110001 for damage classification and corrective action.

4. Procedure

A. Inspection

Door Frame - Forward Lower Corner below Scuff Plate - Inspection Area

(1) Do a special detailed inspection of the structure of the forward lower corner below the scuff plate. Refer to the Non-destructive Testing Manual NTM 531104.
(2) Make a report of the damage after the non-destructive testing inspection:
(a) Corrosion damage:

If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51220000 for types, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.

(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):

If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51110000 for damage classification and corrective action.

5. Close-up
Subtask 53-11-00-420-062-A

A. Installation of the Component
(1) Install the forward corner of the scuff plate on the sill of the forward passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 53-15-15-400-001)

Subtask 53-11-00-410-068-A

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the forward passenger/crew door 831 ( 841), (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
