C. Get Access
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE LATCH PIN IS RETRACTED IN THE DISARMED POSITION DURING THE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. THIS PREVENTS AN ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE ESCAPE SLIDE MECHANISM DURING THE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the FWD passenger/crew door 831 or (841).
   (2) Open the FWD passenger/crew door 831 or 841, (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).

D. Disarming of the Emergency Escape Slide
   (1) Disarm the escape slide of the emergency exit doors (7) as follows:
     (a) Open and remove the flaps (5).
NOTE: The SLIDE ARMED (2) indicator-light comes on.
     (b) With a WRENCH - SPANNER, turn the head of the latch pin (6), a quarter turn counterclockwise to retract the latch pin (6).
NOTE: The SLIDE ARMED (2) indicator-light goes off.

E. Removal of the Lining Panels
   (1) Remove the lining panels.
     (a) FOR [2WN1] (IND LT-SLIDE ARMED, L EMER EXIT)

     (b) FOR [2WN2] (IND LT-SLIDE ARMED, R EMER EXIT)
242FW.
   (2) Remove the insulation.
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-73-21-020-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the SLIDE ARMED Indicator-Light
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the electrical receptacle (4).
   (2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (3) On the lining panel (8), push the tabs (1) of the SLIDE ARMED indicator-light (2).
   (4) Remove the SLIDE ARMED indicator-light (2).
