3. Job Set-up

A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
Subtask 52-71-00-010-079-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
  • KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
  • CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at applicable emergency exit door 833, 834, 843 or 844.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (2) Put the slide control handle (2) in the disarmed position for the applicable emergency exit door.
NOTE: On the indication window (1), the DISARMED sign comes into view.
   (3) Install the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING (3) to safety the slide control handle (2) in the disarmed position.
   (4) Open applicable emergency exit door 833, 834, 843 or 844 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-002).
   (5) Obey the special precautions before you start the work on the emergency exit doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
   (6) Ignore the warnings related to the emergency exit door on the Flight Attendant Panel (FAP) and in the cockpit when the applicable emergency exit door is open.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at applicable emergency exit door 833, 834, 843 or 844.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (2) Do the steps that follow to put the slide control handle (2) in the disarmed position:
     (a) Open the protection cover to get access to the slide control handle (2).
     (b) Put the slide control handle (2) in the disarmed position for the applicable emergency exit door.
NOTE: On the indication window (1), the DISARMED sign comes into view.
     (c) Install the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING (3) to safety the slide control handle (2) in the disarmed position.
     (d) Close the protection cover of the slide control handle (2).
   (3) Open applicable emergency exit door 833, 834, 843 or 844 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-002).
   (4) Obey the special precautions before you start the work on the emergency exit doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
   (5) Ignore the warnings related to the emergency exit door on the Flight Attendant Panel (FAP) and in the cockpit when the applicable emergency exit door is open.

C. Removal of the Lining Panel
   (1) Remove the lining panel:
     (a) FOR [5WN1] (PROX SW-HANDLE, L FWD EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
     (b) FOR [5WN2] (PROX SW-HANDLE, R FWD EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
     (c) FOR [6WN1] (PROX SW-HANDLE, L AFT EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
     (d) FOR [6WN2] (PROX SW-HANDLE, R AFT EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
   (2) Remove the insulation.

4. Procedure
Subtask 52-71-00-820-074-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjustment of the Proximity Switch
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the proximity switch (2).
   (2) Connect the 355M03210000 CHECKING TOOL-DOORS or the G55M03210000 CHECKING TOOL - DOORS to the electrical connector of the proximity switch (2).
   (3) Removal of the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (4).
   (4) Loosen the nut (4) of the target (3).
   (5) Turn the target (3) until the NEAR indicator light comes on.
   (6) Make sure that the target (3) does not touch the proximity switch (2).
   (7) Turn the target (3) in the opposite direction until the FAR indicator light comes on.
   (8) From this position, turn the target (3) between 2 and 2.5 turns in the direction of the proximity switch (2).
   (9) Tighten the nut (4).
   (10) Safety the nut (4) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (11) Disconnect the 355M03210000 CHECKING TOOL-DOORS or the G55M03210000 CHECKING TOOL - DOORS from the proximity switch (2).
   (12) Connect the electrical connector (1) to the proximity switch (2).
Subtask 52-71-00-820-074-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjustment of the Proximity Switch
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the proximity switch (2).
   (2) Connect the 355M03210000 CHECKING TOOL-DOORS or the G55M03210000 CHECKING TOOL - DOORS to the electrical connector of the proximity switch (2).
   (3) Removal of the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (4).
   (4) Loosen the nut (4) of the target (3).
   (5) Turn the target (3) until the NEAR indicator light comes on.
   (6) Make sure that the target (3) does not touch the proximity switch (2).
   (7) Turn the target (3) in the opposite direction until the FAR indicator light comes on.
   (8) From this position, turn the target (3) 3.5 turns in the direction of the proximity switch (2).
   (9) Tighten the nut (4).
   (10) Safety the nut (4) with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (11) Disconnect the 355M03210000 CHECKING TOOL-DOORS or the G55M03210000 CHECKING TOOL - DOORS from the proximity switch (2).
   (12) Connect the electrical connector (1) to the proximity switch (2).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) Install the insulation.
   (2) Install the removed lining panel:
     (a) FOR [5WN1] (PROX SW-HANDLE, L FWD EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
     (b) FOR [5WN2] (PROX SW-HANDLE, R FWD EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
     (c) FOR [6WN1] (PROX SW-HANDLE, L AFT EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
     (d) FOR [6WN2] (PROX SW-HANDLE, R AFT EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)
Subtask 52-71-00-410-084-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Obey the special precautions after the work on the emergency exit doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-004).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close applicable emergency exit door 833, 834, 843 or 844 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-002).
   (4) Remove the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING (3).
   (5) Put the slide control handle (2) in the armed position for the applicable emergency exit door.
NOTE: On the indication window (1), the ARMED sign comes into view.
   (6) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 52-71-00-410-084-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Obey the special precautions after the work on the emergency exit doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-004).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close applicable emergency exit door 833, 834, 843 or 844 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-002).
   (4) Open the protection cover to get access to the slide control handle (2).
   (5) Remove the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING (3).
   (6) Put the slide control handle (2) in the armed position for the applicable emergency exit door.
NOTE: On the indication window (1), the ARMED sign comes into view.
   (7) Close the protection cover of the slide control handle (2).
   (8) Remove the access platform(s).
