A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Get Access
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
  • KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
  • CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the passenger/crew door 831.
   (2) Open the applicable passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Disarm the escape slide of the applicable emergency exit as follows:
     (a) Open and remove the flap (5) of the emergency exit (8).
NOTE: the applicable SLIDE ARMED indicator light (6) comes on.
     (b) On the emergency exit, with a WRENCH - HEXAGONAL, turn the head of the latch pin (7) a quarter turn counterclockwise to retract the latch pin (7).
NOTE: the SLIDE ARMED indicator light (6) goes off.

C. Removal of the Lining Panel
   (1) Remove the lining panel:
     (a) FOR [5WN1] (PROX SW-HANDLE, L FWD EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)

     (b) FOR [5WN2] (PROX SW-HANDLE, R FWD EMER EXIT ESC SLIDE)

4. Procedure

A. Adjustment of the Proximity Switch
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE EMERGENCY EXIT DURING THE ADJUSTMENT.
   (1) Make sure that the clearance J1 between the target (2) and the bracket (1) of the proximity switch (9) is 41.2 +1.0 mm or -1.0 mm (1.6220 +0.0394 in. or -0.0394 in.)
   (2) If necessary, adjust the target position as follows:
     (a) Loosen the locknut (4) to release the serrated washer (3) and adjust the target (2) to get the correct clearance J1.
     (b) Tighten the locknut (4).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (2) Install the lining panel:

B. Close Access
   (1) Arm the escape slide of the applicable emergency exit as follows.
     (a) With a WRENCH - HEXAGONAL , turn the head of the latch pin (7) a quarter turn clockwise to extend the latch pin (7).
NOTE: The SLIDE ARMED indicator light (6) comes on.
     (b) Install and close the cover flap (5) on the emergency exit (8).
NOTE: The SLIDE ARMED indicator light (6) goes off.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
   (3) Close the pasenger/crew door 831 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
     (a) Remove the access platform(s).
