A. Adjustment of the Cockpit Door - Clearance P of the Latch Mechanism
(1) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT to do the adjustment of clearance P.
(2) Adjust clearance P of the latch mechanism as follows:
(a) Close the cockpit door (3).
(b) Make sure that the D-ring (4) of the center latch mechanism stays in its recess.
(c) Make sure that the top and bottom latch tenons (8) are in the fully closed position before the center latch tenon (8) engages.
(d) Use the RULER - STEEL to measure clearance P between the latch tenon (8) and the slot of the access cover (2).
1 Make sure that clearance P is:
1 Open the cockpit door (3) and carefully lift it until there is no load on the adjustment nut (7).
3 Turn the adjustment nut (7) until clearance P is correctly adjusted.
4 Lower the cockpit door (3) and make sure that clearance P is correct.
5 Install the locknut (6).
6 Tighten the locknut (6).
(f) Make sure that the cockpit door (3) is in the highest possible position and clearance P in the given limits.
(h) Use the RULER - STEEL to measure clearance A between the top of the closed cockpit door (3) and the cockpit wall panel (1).
1 Make sure that clearance A is between 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.) and 5.5 mm (0.2165 in.) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-51-00-720-003).
Subtask 52-51-00-865-158-A (1) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT to do the adjustment of clearance P.
- Between 3 mm (0.1181 in.) and 4 mm (0.1575 in.) with the full body latch-tenon (8)
- Between 5.5 mm (0.2165 in.) and 7.5 mm (0.2953 in.) with the decreased latch-tenon (8) size.
1 Open the cockpit door (3) and carefully lift it until there is no load on the adjustment nut (7).
NOTE: The cockpit door (3) weighs approximately 35 kg (77.1618 lb).
2 Remove the locknut (6).
NOTE: This is to make sure that the latch tenon (8) does not touch the access cover (2) during the flight.
(g) Make sure that limit switch 310LG (5) in the cockpit wall panel (1) is correctly adjusted (Ref. AMM TASK 33-21-12-400-001).
B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
