4. Procedure

A. Functional Test of the Decompression Event
   (1) Do the test to make sure that the pressure sensors in the control unit 24MQ operate correctly.
NOTE: In this test a rapid decompression of the cabin pressure is simulated with the DECOMPRESSION TEST SIMULATOR (referred to as vacuum pump).
AIRBUS recommends the use of P/N AR 4728-1 (manufacturer ADAMS RITE AEROSPACE) or the equivalent standard.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the CKPT DOOR CONT Panel 20VU:
On the CKPT DOOR CONT panel 20VU:
  • put the vacuum pump in one of the pressure sensor holes and operate it.
On the Cockpit Door:
  • you can hear a clacking noise from the solenoids of the electrical release strikes because they are without power.
  • remove the vacuum pump from the pressure sensor.
  • the electrical strike-release units operate automatically to lock the cockpit door.
  • put the vacuum pump in the other pressure sensor hole.
On the Cockpit Door:
  • you can hear a clacking noise from the solenoids of the electrical release strikes because they are without power.
  • remove the vacuum pump from the pressure sensor hole.
  • the electrical release strikes operate automatically to lock the cockpit door.
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
