D. Prepare the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If the inspection area is not clean, clean it with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If you cannot do a satisfactory inspection because of the TPS layer, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-41-11-220-050-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the internal structure of the forward avionics- compartment access door. This inspection includes:
-The webs
-The hinge arms
-The internal skin of the forward avionics compartment door.
   (2) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51220001 for types, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases).
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 51110001 for damage classification and corrective action.

   (2) If there is a TPS layer, make sure that it is in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If, after the check, you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can spray a new layer on the existing layer.
   (3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (4) Apply a full new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001) if, before the inspection:
  • You removed the TPS layer, or
  • You cleaned the inspection area with high-pressure water, steam, solvents and/or cleaning agents.
