Installation of the Door Suspension


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU OPEN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR, RECORD ON THE WORK CARD ON THE DOOR, THE DATE AND TIME WHEN YOU OPENED IT. IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 52-33-12-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aft cargo-compartment door is open to get access to the bulk cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below the bulk cargo-compartment door.
   (3) Make sure that the divider net between the aft/bulk cargo compartment at FR59 is removed.
   (4) Make sure that the door net from the opening of the bulk cargo-compartment door is removed.
   (5) Make sure that the insulation packs from the fuselage around the forward and aft hinge frames are removed.
   (6) Make sure that the bulk cargo-compartment door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-006).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-33-12-910-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Assemble a new AIPC 52-33-12-01-200 LOCK WASHER (21) on the screw (20).
   (5) Examine the plug (10) for damage:
     (a) If the
AIPC 52-33-12-01-060 PLUG (10) or AIPC 52-33-12-01-130 PLUG (10) are damaged, replace them.
   (6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) to the mating surface of the bolt assembly (8), the surface of the pivot pin (6), the shank of the screw (20) and the screws (9).

B. Installation of the Door Suspension
NOTE: The procedure is the same for each hinge arm.
   (1) Install the plug (10) loosely in the hinge arm (3).
   (2) If removed, put the bolt assembly (8) on the door structure and attach it with the screws (9) and the nuts (7).
   (3) Tighten the nuts (7).
   (4) Put the hinge arm (3) in position on the bolt assembly (8) and the bracket (22).
   (5) Install the pivot pin (6) to the bracket (22) as follows:
     (a) Install the pivot pin (6) to the bracket (22) and the hinge arm (3).
     (b) Make sure that the holes of the pivot pin (6) and the bracket (22) aligns.
     (c) Install the screw (20) with the new lock washer (21) on the bracket (22).
     (d) Tighten the screw (20) and safety it with the lock washer (21).
   (6) Install the adjustment nut (11), refer to the match marks made in the removal procedure.
   (7) Install the washer (12) and the nut (14) on the bolt assembly (8).
   (8) Tighten the nut (14) on the bolt assembly (8) to compress the plug (10) 2 mm (0.0787 in.) in an axial direction.
   (9) Safety the adjustment nut (11) with the new AIPC 52-33-12-01-220 COTTER PIN (15).
   (10) Attach the bonding jumpers (5) and (2) with the bolt (1) and the nut (4) to the bracket (13) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (11) Install the bulk door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-400-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 52-33-12-410-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Apply a protective film of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) on all components which you touched or moved during the replacement procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the bulk cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
   (4) Install the insulation packs around the forward and aft hinge frames.
   (5) Install the door net into the bulk cargo-compartment door opening.
   (6) Install the divider net between the aft/bulk cargo compartment at FR59.
   (7) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (8) Remove the access platform(s).
