A. Adjustment of the Locking Mechanism
   (1) Make sure that the notches of the serrated plates and the forward/aft latch spigots are aligned (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-32-400-001).
   (2) Put the 98A52307622000 GAGE - MEASURING, BULK CARGO DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM in the inspection hole of the forward/aft barrel locks to examine the locking mechanism.
NOTE: If you can see the red marking ring of the 98A52307622000 GAGE - MEASURING, BULK CARGO DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM, the adjustment of the locking mechanism is correct.
   (3) If you can not see the red marking ring of the measuring gage, adjust the locking mechanism as follows:
     (a) Cut and remove the lockwire from the jam nuts (34).
     (b) Loosen the jam nuts (34) and release the locking rings (33).
     (c) Turn the push rod (32) clockwise or counterclockwise until the adjustment is correct.
NOTE: Make sure that the threads of the eye ends cover the inspection hole of the rod body.
     (d) Set the locking rings (33) in the correct position and tighten the jam nuts (34).
     (e) Safety the jam nuts (34) with lockwire, corrosion-resistance steel, dia 0.8 mm on the locking ring (33).
     (f) Remove the measuring gage from the inspection hole of the forward and aft barrel locks (20).
   (4) Make sure that the external door handle is in the center of the recess at the outer skin.
   (5) If not, adjust the position of the external door handle as follows:
     (a) Cut and remove the lockwire (44) from the jam nut (42).
     (b) Loosen the jam nut (42) and turn the adjustment screw (43) until the external door handle is in the center position.
     (c) Tighten the jam nut (42) and safety it with the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (6) Adjust the overturn stop of the locking mechanism as follows:
     (a) Move the door handle to the OPEN position to release the Bulk door.
     (b) Make sure that the claws of the barrel locks (20) do not engage with the related latch spigots on the fuselage frame.
NOTE: The location of the claws make sure that you can move the Bulk door freely from or into the closed position.
     (c) Measure the clearance between the stop screw (38) of the limit stop (36) and the support screw (39) of the support fitting (40).
NOTE: Both screws must have contact.
     (d) If not, add the same quantity of washers (37) at the stop screw (38) and at the support screw (39) as follows:
1 Move the door handle to the LOCKED position.
2 Remove the nuts (35) from the limit stop (36).
3 Remove the stop screw (38) from the limit stop (36).
4 Remove the support screw (39) from the support fitting (39).
5 Install the same quantity of washers (37) at the support screw (39) and at the stop screw (38) as necessary.
6 Install the stop screw (38) with the related washers (37) on the limit stop (36).
7 Install the support screw (39) with the related washers (37) on the support fitting (39).
8 Install the nuts (35) on the support screw (39) and on the stop screw (38) and tighten them.
9 Move the door handle to the OPEN position.
     (e) Make sure that the stop screw (38) has contact with the support screw (39).
     (f) If not, do the above adjustment again until the two screws have contact.
Subtask 52-33-11-820-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Adjustment of the Gaps
   (1) Measure the gaps "J" and "K" between the forward latch spigot and the forward barrel lock (20).
NOTE: The gap "J" must be a minimum of 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.). The gap "K" must be between 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) and 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.).
   (2) Measure the gaps "L" and "M" between the aft latch spigot and the aft barrel lock (20).
NOTE: The gap "L" must be a minimum of 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.). The gap "M" must be between zero and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
   (3) Adjust the gaps "K" and "M" as follows:
     (a) Open the Bulk door to get access to the forward and aft barrel locks (20).
     (b) Safety the not fully opened Bulk door with an applicable support device.
     (c) Remove the nuts (23), the washer (24) and the bolts (25) from the shaft (22).
     (d) Pull the forward and aft barrel locks (20) together with the spacer set (21) away from the shaft (22).
     (e) Add or remove one spacer to change the thickness of the spacer set (21) as required.
NOTE: Obey the preparation instructions of the subsequent components (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-21-400-001).
     (f) Install the forward and aft barrel locks (20) together with the spacer set (21) into the shaft (22).
     (g) Connect the shaft (22) to the forward and aft barrel locks (20) as follows:
1 Remove the nuts (27), the washers (28) and the bolts (29) to disconnect the flange (26) from the joint assembly (30).
2 Align the holes of the forward and aft barrel locks (20) and the shaft (22).
3 Install the bolt (25) with the washers (24) and the nuts (23).
4 Connect the flange (26) with the joint assembly (30) and install the bolts (29), the washer (28) and the nuts (27).
NOTE: Make sure that the mating surfaces of the flange (26) and the joint assembly (30) have contact and their holes align.
5 If necessary, turn the flange (26) to get contact to the mating surfaces and/or to align the holes.
       6 Tighten the nuts (27),(23).
     (h) Remove the support device and set the Bulk door in the locked position.
