Adjustment of the Bulk Cargo-Compartment Door
To adjust the Bulk cargo-compartment door immediately after replacement of the door/door components, or if a door malfunction is reported.

Subtask 52-33-11-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Subtask 52-33-11-820-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) If necessary, close the bulk cargo-compartment door and carefully set the locking handle to the locked position.
(2) Make sure that the skin offset between the bulk cargo-compartment door contour and the fuselage contour is correct.
(4) If the lateral clearances are not in the limits, change the thickness of each shim set (16) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the connection rod is disconnected from the fuselage fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-820-003) to release the pre-tension of the balance mechanism.
(b) If necessary, remove and discard the cotter pins (11) from the hinge bolts (14).
(c) Remove the nuts (12) and the washers (13) from the hinge bolts (14).
(d) Remove the hinge bolts (14), the spacers (15) and the shim sets (16) from the forward and aft hinge frame of the fuselage.
(e) Add or remove shims of the shim set (16) to get the necessary thickness.
(f) Make sure that the procedures at the forward and aft hinge frames are equivalent. If you remove a shim from one side of the hinge arm (17), add this shim to the other side.
(g) Install the shim set (16), the spacers (15) and the hinge bolt (14) on the forward and aft hinge frames. Obey the installation procedure of the hinge bolts (14) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-400-001).
(h) Install the washers (13) and the nuts (12) on the hinge bolts (14).
(i) Make sure that the lateral clearances between the closed bulk cargo-compartment door and the door frame are correct.
(j) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 4.8 and 4.2 m.daN (35.40 and 30.97 lbf.ft )

(k) Safety the nuts (12) with the new AIPC 52-33-04-01-130 COTTER PINS (11) or the new AIPC 52-33-84-01-130 COTTER PINS (11).
(l) Connect the connection rod to the fuselage fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-820-003).
(5) Make sure that the bulk cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).

IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.

Subtask 52-33-11-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
(1) Open the AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) to get access to the inner side of the closed Bulk cargo-compartment door (referred to as Bulk door).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position for the AFT cargo-compartment door and the Bulk door.
(3) Remove the divider net between the AFT/Bulk cargo compartment at FR59.
(4) Remove the door net from the Bulk door opening.
4. Procedure(1) Open the AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) to get access to the inner side of the closed Bulk cargo-compartment door (referred to as Bulk door).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position for the AFT cargo-compartment door and the Bulk door.
(3) Remove the divider net between the AFT/Bulk cargo compartment at FR59.
(4) Remove the door net from the Bulk door opening.
Subtask 52-33-11-820-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjustment of the Skin Offset
(1) Measure the skin offset which must be out of the wind between the contour of the Bulk door and the fuselage.
(a) Open the Bulk door to get access to the lowest stop fitting (4).
(b) Change the thickness of the washer set (3) as follows:
1 Remove the nut (5) and the stop screw (2) together with the washer set (3) from the stop fitting (4).
2 Add or remove the quantity of the washers as necessary until the washer set (3) has the correct thickness.
3 Install the stop screw (2) together with the washer set (3) and the nut (5) on the stop fitting (4).
(c) Close the Bulk door and make sure that the lower skin offset is correct.
(3) Adjust the upper skin offset as follows (refer to section D-D).
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (10) from the damper housing (8).
(b) Remove the nut (6) and the washer (7) from the damper housing (9) of the hinge arm (17).
(c) Use a locally made tool to turn the threaded plug (8) clockwise or counterclockwise until the upper skin offset is correct.
(d) Install the washer (7) and the nut (6) to the damper housing (9) and tighten.
(e) Install the AIPC 52-33-12-01-220 COTTER PIN (10) or AIPC 52-33-84-70-180 COTTER PIN (10) to safety the threaded plug (9).
(f) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the surface of the damper housing (9).
(4) Adjust the lateral skin offset as follows (refer to the sections A-A and B-B):
(a) Open the Bulk door to get access to the stop bolts (2).
(b) Turn the other stop bolts (2) counterclockwise until they touch the related stop fittings (1).
(c) If the lateral skin offset is out of tolerance, turn the stop bolts (2) clockwise.
Subtask 52-33-11-820-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Measure the skin offset which must be out of the wind between the contour of the Bulk door and the fuselage.
NOTE: The lateral and the upper skin offsets must be between zero and -2.0 mm (-0.079 in.).
The lower skin offset in the scuff plate area must be between -1.0 mm (-0.039 in.) and -3.5 mm (-0.138 in.).
(2) Adjust the lower skin offset as follows (refer to section E-E): The lower skin offset in the scuff plate area must be between -1.0 mm (-0.039 in.) and -3.5 mm (-0.138 in.).
(a) Open the Bulk door to get access to the lowest stop fitting (4).
(b) Change the thickness of the washer set (3) as follows:
1 Remove the nut (5) and the stop screw (2) together with the washer set (3) from the stop fitting (4).
2 Add or remove the quantity of the washers as necessary until the washer set (3) has the correct thickness.
3 Install the stop screw (2) together with the washer set (3) and the nut (5) on the stop fitting (4).
(c) Close the Bulk door and make sure that the lower skin offset is correct.
(3) Adjust the upper skin offset as follows (refer to section D-D).
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (10) from the damper housing (8).
(b) Remove the nut (6) and the washer (7) from the damper housing (9) of the hinge arm (17).
(c) Use a locally made tool to turn the threaded plug (8) clockwise or counterclockwise until the upper skin offset is correct.
(d) Install the washer (7) and the nut (6) to the damper housing (9) and tighten.
(e) Install the AIPC 52-33-12-01-220 COTTER PIN (10) or AIPC 52-33-84-70-180 COTTER PIN (10) to safety the threaded plug (9).
(f) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the surface of the damper housing (9).
(4) Adjust the lateral skin offset as follows (refer to the sections A-A and B-B):
(a) Open the Bulk door to get access to the stop bolts (2).
(b) Turn the other stop bolts (2) counterclockwise until they touch the related stop fittings (1).
(c) If the lateral skin offset is out of tolerance, turn the stop bolts (2) clockwise.
NOTE: The clearance between the stop bolts (2) and the stop fittings (1) must not be more than 0.4 mm (0.016 in.).
(d) Close the Bulk door and make sure that the skin offset is correct. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
B. Adjustment of the Lateral Clearances (1) If necessary, close the bulk cargo-compartment door and carefully set the locking handle to the locked position.
(2) Make sure that the skin offset between the bulk cargo-compartment door contour and the fuselage contour is correct.
NOTE: The skin offset must be out of the wind.
(3) Measure lateral clearances A thru F between the closed bulk cargo-compartment door and the door frame of the fuselage. (4) If the lateral clearances are not in the limits, change the thickness of each shim set (16) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the connection rod is disconnected from the fuselage fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-820-003) to release the pre-tension of the balance mechanism.
(b) If necessary, remove and discard the cotter pins (11) from the hinge bolts (14).
(c) Remove the nuts (12) and the washers (13) from the hinge bolts (14).
(d) Remove the hinge bolts (14), the spacers (15) and the shim sets (16) from the forward and aft hinge frame of the fuselage.
(e) Add or remove shims of the shim set (16) to get the necessary thickness.

(5) Make sure that the bulk cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
B. Adjustment of the Lateral Clearances
(1) If necessary, close the bulk door and carefully put the locking handle in the locked position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(2) Make sure that:
(a) The skin offset between the bulk door contour and the fuselage contour is correct.
(b) The skin offset is out of the wind.
(3) Measure lateral clearances A thru H between the closed bulk door and the door frame of the fuselage.
(4) If lateral clearances A thru H are not in the limits, adjust the thickness of each shim set (16) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the connection rod is disconnected from the fuselage fitting to release the pre-tension from the balance mechanism (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-820-003).
(b) If necessary, remove and discard the cotter pins (11) from the hinge bolts (14).
(c) Remove the nuts (12) and the washers (13) from the hinge bolts (14).
(d) Remove the hinge bolts (14), the spacers (15) and the shim sets (16) from the forward and aft hinge frames of the fuselage.
(e) Add or remove shims from the shim set (16) to get the necessary thickness:
1 If you remove a shim from one side of the hinge arm (17), add this shim to the other side.
(f) Make sure that the adjustment procedures at the forward and aft hinge frames are equivalent.
(g) Install the shim sets (16), the spacers (15) and the hinge bolts (14) on the forward and aft hinge frames (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-400-001).
(h) Install the washers (13) and the nuts (12) on the hinge bolts (14).
(i) Make sure that lateral clearances A thru H between the closed bulk door and the door frame of the fuselage are in the limits.
(j) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 4.80 and 4.20 m.daN (35.40 and 30.97 lbf.ft )

(k) Safety the nuts (12) with the new AIPC 52-33-04-01-130 COTTER PINS (11) or the new AIPC 52-33-84-01-130 COTTER PINS (11).
(l) Connect the connection rod to the fuselage fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-820-003).
(5) Make sure that the bulk door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
Subtask 52-33-11-710-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If necessary, close the bulk door and carefully put the locking handle in the locked position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(2) Make sure that:
(a) The skin offset between the bulk door contour and the fuselage contour is correct.
(b) The skin offset is out of the wind.
(3) Measure lateral clearances A thru H between the closed bulk door and the door frame of the fuselage.
(4) If lateral clearances A thru H are not in the limits, adjust the thickness of each shim set (16) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the connection rod is disconnected from the fuselage fitting to release the pre-tension from the balance mechanism (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-820-003).

(f) Make sure that the adjustment procedures at the forward and aft hinge frames are equivalent.
(g) Install the shim sets (16), the spacers (15) and the hinge bolts (14) on the forward and aft hinge frames (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-400-001).
(h) Install the washers (13) and the nuts (12) on the hinge bolts (14).
(i) Make sure that lateral clearances A thru H between the closed bulk door and the door frame of the fuselage are in the limits.
(j) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 4.80 and 4.20 m.daN (35.40 and 30.97 lbf.ft )
. (k) Safety the nuts (12) with the new AIPC 52-33-04-01-130 COTTER PINS (11) or the new AIPC 52-33-84-01-130 COTTER PINS (11).
(l) Connect the connection rod to the fuselage fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-11-820-003).
(5) Make sure that the bulk door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
C. Operational Test
(1) Open and close the Bulk door to make sure that the balance mechanism operates safisfactorily.
(2) Make sure that the Bulk door moves smoothly.
(3) Close the Bulk door and make sure that the locking mechanism operates satisfactorily.
5. Close-up(1) Open and close the Bulk door to make sure that the balance mechanism operates safisfactorily.
(2) Make sure that the Bulk door moves smoothly.
(3) Close the Bulk door and make sure that the locking mechanism operates satisfactorily.
Subtask 52-33-11-410-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the door net in the bulk cargo-compartment door opening.
(3) Install the divider net at FR59.
(4) Make sure that the bulk cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(5) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(6) Remove the access platform(s).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the door net in the bulk cargo-compartment door opening.
(3) Install the divider net at FR59.
(4) Make sure that the bulk cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(5) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(6) Remove the access platform(s).
