THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. 3. Job Set-up
Subtask 52-33-11-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Open the AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position for the AFT cargo-compartment door and the Bulk door.
   (3) Remove the divider net between the AFT/Bulk cargo compartment at FR59.
   (4) Remove the door net from the opening of the Bulk cargo compartment.
   (5) Remove sidewall panels 162WW, 162VW and 162UW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-003).

Subtask 52-33-11-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Bulk Cargo-Compartment Door
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU RELEASE THE TENSION IN THE BALANCE MECHANISM. REMAINING TENSION IN ITS SPRING CAN CAUSE THE FORWARD LEVER TO MOVE SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
   (1) Release the pre-tension of the balance mechanism as follows:
     (a) Install the LOCALLY MANUFACTURED - SHIM PLATE ( 18 mm (0.709 in.) adjustment gage) (25) between the forward lever (24) and the stop fitting (26).
NOTE: The permitted tolerance of the adjustment gage (25) thickness is between 17.7 mm (0.697 in.) and 18.3 mm (0.720 in.).
     (b) Carefully open the bulk cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-006).
   (2) Disconnect the connection rod (15) from the fuselage structure as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (18) from the nut (19).
     (b) Remove the nut (19), the washers (20) and the bolt (22) from the fuselage fitting (21).
     (c) Remove the eye-end of the connection rod (15) from the fuselage fitting (21).
     (d) Lower the bulk cargo-compartment door to its closed position but do not lock it.
     (e) Before you do step (f) release the tension of the balance mechanism with the clamping screw of the pre-load unit (Ref. AMM TASK 52-33-41-000-001).
     (f) Lift the forward lever (24) and remove the gage (25).
     (g) Lower the forward lever (24) against the stop fitting (26).
     (h) Temporarily attach the connection rod (15) to the bulk cargo-compartment door structure.
     (i) If necessary, replace the sleeve (17) and the bushes (16).
   (3) Disconnect the bonding strap (8) from the bracket (7) of the forward and aft hinge frames as follows:
     (a) Remove the nuts (6), the washers (9) and the screws (10) from the brackets (7).
     (b) Remove the bonding strap (8) from the brackets (7).
   (4) Disconnect the forward and aft hinge arms (13) from the forward and aft hinge frames of the fuselage structure as follows:
     (a) Hold the bulk cargo-compartment door.
     (b) Remove and discard the cotter pins (1) from the nuts (2).
     (c) Remove the nuts (2), the washers (3), the shim sets (12), the spacers (11), (14) and the bolts (5) from the hinge frames. Record the quantity of the shims to get the correct thickness of each shim set (12).
   (5) Lift the bulk cargo-compartment door and remove it from the opening.
   (6) If necessary, replace the bushes (4) in the forward and aft hinge frames.
