Installation of the Lock Fitting Components

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU OPEN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR, RECORD ON THE WORK CARD ON THE DOOR, THE DATE AND TIME WHEN YOU OPENED IT. IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aft cargo-compartment door (referred to as cargo door) is opened and safetied with the actuator safety locks (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the opened cargo door.

B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

4. Procedure
Subtask 52-32-32-910-050-A

A. Preparation for Installation

Lock Fitting Components

(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply Silicone base Grease-Mechanisms and Seals - - (Material No.03JCA9) to:

The roller (7)
The adjusting bush (5)
The eccentric bush (6)
The eccentric bolt (9)
The special bolts (12).

(5) Apply the sealant:

WARNING: DO NOT GET THE SEALANT ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. USE THE SEALANT IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. DO NOT BREATH THE GAS. IF YOU GET THE SEALANT ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES, FLUSH IT AWAY WITH WATER.

(a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the mating surfaces of the serrated plates (4) and (8).

B. Installation of the Lock Fitting Components

Lock Fitting Components

(1) Put the eccentric bush (6) into the roller (7).

NOTE: Make sure that the color marks or the center punches are aligned after the assembly.

(2) Install the adjusting bush (5) into the door frame fitting (13).
(3) Engage the serrated plate (4) with the adjusting bush (5).
(4) Put the roller (7) with the eccentric bush (6) into the door frame fitting (13).

NOTE: Make sure that the slot of the eccentric bush (6) engages with the pin of the adjusting bush (5) correctly.

(5) Install the eccentric bolt (9) with the serrated plate (8) into the door frame fitting (13).
(6) Install the serrated plates (8) to the eccentric bolt (9).
(7) Align the slot of the serrated plates (4),(8) with the special bolts (12) of the door frame fitting (13).
(8) Attach the serrated plates (4),(8) with the special bolts (12), the washers (11) and the nuts (10). Do not tighten the nuts at this stage.
(9) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2) on the eccentric bolt (9), but do not tighten at this stage.

C. Adjustment Procedure
(1) Remove the actuator safety locks and close the AFT cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(2) Adjust the eccentric bushes (6) and the eccentric bolts (9) to make sure that the skin offset is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 52-32-11-820-001).

D. Installation of the Lock Fitting Components
(1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(2) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 0.4 and 0.3 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in )

(3) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 3.0 and 2.0 m.daN (22.12 and 14.75 lbf.ft )

(4) Safety the nut (2) with the new AIPC 52-32-32-01-040 COTTER PIN (1) or the new AIPC 52-32-84-80-040 COTTER PIN (1).
(5) Apply the sealant:

(a) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) around the plates with serrations (4) or (8).
(6) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) on the metal surfaces of the new components which have no other surface protection.

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the AFT cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(3) Install the access panel 825AR on the closed cargo door.
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
