A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the AFT cargo-compartment door (referred to as cargo door) is opened and safetied with the actuator safety locks (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the opened cargo door.
   (3) Make sure that the access panel 826AR is removed from the cargo door.
   (4) Make sure that the protective plug (6) is removed from the edge member.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the AFT cargo-compartment door (referred to as cargo door) is opened and safetied with the actuator safety locks (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the opened cargo door.
   (3) Make sure that the door fairing 826CR the access panels 826AR and 826BR are removed from the cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-32-33-000-001).
   (4) Make sure that the protection plug (9) or (12) is removed from the edge member.

4. Procedure
Subtask 52-32-21-910-060-A
A. Preparation for the Installation
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Apply a layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to all moveable parts.
   (5) If removed, install the target on the control lever (190) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-35-13-400-002).

B. Installation of the Latching Shaft

   (1) Install the latching shaft (171) on the cargo door as follows:
     (a) Move the latching shaft (171) through the lateral cutout of the cargo door into the sliding bearing of each frame fork end.
     (b) During this movement, assemble the shaft levers (175), the link lever (40), the interlock cam (186) and the control lever (190) in the correct sequence on the locking shaft (171).
     (c) Put the shaft levers (175), the link lever (40) the interlock cam (186) and the control lever (190) on the latching shaft (171).
     (d) Make sure that these parts are in their correct installation position (in accordance with your marks) and their attachment holes align.
     (e) Install the tapered pins (174), the sleeves (176) and the nuts (177) to attach the shaft levers (175) on the latching shaft (171).
     (f) Install the tapered pins (183), the sleeves (184) and the nuts (185) to attach the link lever (40) on the latching shaft (171).
     (g) Install the tapered pins (186), the sleeves (189) and the nuts (188) to attach the interlock cam (186) on the latching shaft (171).
     (h) Install the tapered pins (191), the sleeves (193) and the nuts (192) to attach the control lever (190) on the latching shaft (171).
     (i) Tighten the nuts (177), (185), (188) and (192).
   (2) Connect the link rod (181) of each latching unit to the shaft lever (175) as follows:
     (a) Put the eye-end of the link rod (181) to the fork-end of the shaft levers (175).
     (b) Install the bolt (178), the washers (179), the bushes (180) and (181) and the nut (173).
     (c) Tighten the nut (173) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-32-21-37-240 COTTER PIN (172) or AIPC 52-32-84-44-230 COTTER PIN (172).
   (3) Connect the connection rod (44) to the link lever (40) as follows:
     (a) Put the fork-end of the connection rod (44) to the link lever (40).
     (b) Install the bolt (45), the washers (43) and the nut (42).
     (c) Tighten the nut (42) and safety it with the new
AIPC 52-32-21-33-150 COTTER PIN (41) or AIPC 52-32-84-40-150 COTTER PIN (41).

B. Installation of the Latching Shaft

   (1) Install the latching shaft (171) on the cargo door as follows:
     (a) Move the latching shaft (171) through the lateral cutout of the cargo door into the sliding bearing of each frame fork end.
     (b) During this movement, assemble the shaft levers (175), the link lever (40), the interlock cam (186) and the control lever (190) in the correct sequence on the locking shaft (171).
     (c) Put the shaft levers (175), the link lever (40) the interlock cam (186) and the control lever (190) in the correct position on the latching shaft (171) (in accordance with your marks).
  • Make sure that the attachment holes align.
     (d) Install the tapered pins (174), the sleeves (176) and the nuts (177) to attach the shaft levers (175) on the latching shaft (171).
     (e) Install the tapered pins (183), the sleeves (184) and the nuts (185) to attach the link lever (40) on the latching shaft (171).
     (f) Install the tapered pins (186), the sleeves (189) and the nuts (188) to attach the interlock cam (186) on the latching shaft (171).
     (g) Install the tapered pins (191), the sleeves (193) and the nuts (192) to attach the control lever (190) on the latching shaft (171).
     (h) Tighten the nuts (177), (185), (188) and (192).
   (2) Connect the link rod (181) of each latching unit to the shaft lever (175) as follows:
     (a) Put the eye-end of the link rod (181) to the fork-end of the shaft levers (175).
     (b) Install the bolt (178), the washers (179), the bushes (180) and (181) and the nut (173).
     (c) Tighten the nut (173) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-32-21-38-240 COTTER PIN (172).
   (3) Connect the connection rod (44) to the link lever (40) as follows:
     (a) Put the fork-end of the connection rod (44) to the link lever (40).
     (b) Install the bolt (45), the washers (43) and the nut (42).
     (c) Tighten the nut (42) and safety it with the new
AIPC 52-32-21-34-150 COTTER PIN (41).

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
B. Installation of the Latching Shaft
F Latching Shaft Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) When you connect/install the components, refer to the marks that you made during the removal procedure.
   (2) Install the latching shaft (171) on the cargo door:
     (a) Move the latching shaft (171) through the lateral cutout of the cargo door into the sliding bearing of each frame fork-end.
     (b) During the movement of latching shaft (171), install the components that follow in the correct sequence:
  • The shaft levers (175)
  • The link lever (40)
  • The interlock cam (186), and
  • The control lever (190).
     (c) Make sure that the attachment holes of the components align with the attachment holes of the latching shaft (171).
     (d) Install the tapered pins (174), the sleeves (176) and the nuts (177) on the shaft levers (175).
     (e) Install the tapered pin (183), the sleeve (184) and the nut (185) on the link lever (40).
     (f) Install the tapered pins (187), the sleeves (189) and the nuts (188) on the interlock cam (186) and the control lever (190).
     (g) TORQUE the nuts (177), (185) and (188) to between 4.8 and 3.7 m.N (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
   (3) Connect the link rods (181) to the shaft levers (175):
     (a) Install the bushes (180) and (182) on the shaft levers (175).
     (b) Put the eye-end of the link rods (181) to the fork-end of the shaft levers (175).
     (c) Install the washers (179), the bolts (178) and the nuts (173) and (191).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (173).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (191) to between 3.7 and 2.8 m.N (32.74 and 24.78 lbf.in )
T.
     (f) Safety the nuts (173) and (191) with the new
AIPC 52-32-84-44-230 COTTER PIN (172).
   (4) Connect the connection rod (44) to the link lever (40):
     (a) Put the fork-end of the connection rod (44) on the link lever (40).
     (b) Install the washers (43), the bolt (45) and the nut (42).
     (c) Tighten the nut (42) and safety it with the new
AIPC 52-32-84-40-150 COTTER PIN (41).

D. Test Procedure
   (1) Do a functional test to make sure that the latching mechanism operates satisfactorily (Ref. AMM TASK 52-32-00-720-001).
   (2) Do the functional test to make sure that the proximity switch 12MJ is correctly adjusted (Ref. AMM TASK 52-32-00-720-001).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to all the components of the locking shaft assembly and to the adjacent cargo door structure.
   (3) Install the protective plug (6) in the lateral cutout of the edge member and apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (4) Install the access panel 826AR on the cargo door.
   (5) Remove the actuator safety locks and close the cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to all the components of the locking shaft assembly and to the adjacent cargo door structure.
   (3) Install the protective plug (9) or (12) in the lateral cutout of the edge member and apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (4) Install the access panels 826AR, 826BR and 826CR on the cargo door.
   (5) Remove the actuator safety locks and close the cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
