A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the closed cargo door.
(2) Make sure that the door handle is moved away from the recess of the door structure up to the 65 degree position.
(3) Make sure that access panel 825AR is removed from the cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-14-000-801).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the closed cargo door.
(2) Make sure that the door handle is moved away from the recess of the door structure up to the 65 degree position.
(3) Make sure that access panel 825AR is removed from the cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-14-000-801).
Subtask 52-31-21-910-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the bolt (23), the threaded pin of the shaft (18) and the contact area of the support fitting (9).
Subtask 52-31-21-910-060-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the bolt (23), the threaded pin of the shaft (18) and the contact area of the support fitting (9).
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the bolts (10) and (23), and the mating surfaces of the support fitting (9) and the target lever (3).
Subtask 52-31-21-560-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the bolts (10) and (23), and the mating surfaces of the support fitting (9) and the target lever (3).
B. Preparation of the Replacement Components
(1) Make sure that there are new tab washers (371) on the link assembly (88).
(2) If not, replace the tab washers (371) as follows:
(a) Release the tab washers (371) from the jam nuts (372).
(b) Remove the fork ends (95) and (99) from the connection rod (370).
(c) Remove and discard the tab washers (371) from the connection rod (370).
(d) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the threads of the connection rod (370).
(e) Install the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 TAB WASHERS (371) and the fork ends (95) and (99) on the connection rod (370).
(3) Make sure that the length between the fork ends (95) and (99) of the replacement link assembly (88) is as recorded in the removal procedure.
Subtask 52-31-21-420-058-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that there are new tab washers (371) on the link assembly (88).
(2) If not, replace the tab washers (371) as follows:
(a) Release the tab washers (371) from the jam nuts (372).
(b) Remove the fork ends (95) and (99) from the connection rod (370).
(c) Remove and discard the tab washers (371) from the connection rod (370).
(d) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the threads of the connection rod (370).
(e) Install the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 TAB WASHERS (371) and the fork ends (95) and (99) on the connection rod (370).
(3) Make sure that the length between the fork ends (95) and (99) of the replacement link assembly (88) is as recorded in the removal procedure.
C. Installation of the Switch Mechanism
(1) Install the link assembly (88) as follows:
(a) Install the fork end (99) on the drive shaft lever (102) as follows:
1 If removed, install the sleeve (100) on the fork end (99).
2 Put the fork end (99) in position on the drive shaft lever (102).
3 Install the bolt (101), the washer (98) and the nut (97).
4 Tighten the nut (97) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-100 COTTER PIN (96).
(b) Install the fork end (95) on the target lever (90) as follows:
1 If removed, install the bush (94) on the fork end (95).
2 Put the fork end (95) on the target lever (90).
3 Install the bolt (89), the washer (93) and the nut (92).
4 Tighten the nut (92) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-150 COTTER PIN (91).
(2) Install the target lever (90) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the target (365) with the bolts (366), the washers (363) and the nuts (362) on the target lever (90).
(b) Install the target lever (90) as follows:
1 Put the target lever (90) on the support fitting (361) and attach it with the washer (369) and the nut (368).
2 Tighten the nut (368) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-020 COTTER PIN (367).
(c) Install the fork end (95) on the target lever (90) (refer to the procedure (1) (b)).
Subtask 52-31-21-560-055-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the link assembly (88) as follows:
(a) Install the fork end (99) on the drive shaft lever (102) as follows:
1 If removed, install the sleeve (100) on the fork end (99).
2 Put the fork end (99) in position on the drive shaft lever (102).
3 Install the bolt (101), the washer (98) and the nut (97).
4 Tighten the nut (97) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-100 COTTER PIN (96).
(b) Install the fork end (95) on the target lever (90) as follows:
1 If removed, install the bush (94) on the fork end (95).
2 Put the fork end (95) on the target lever (90).
3 Install the bolt (89), the washer (93) and the nut (92).
4 Tighten the nut (92) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-150 COTTER PIN (91).
(2) Install the target lever (90) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the target (365) with the bolts (366), the washers (363) and the nuts (362) on the target lever (90).
(b) Install the target lever (90) as follows:
1 Put the target lever (90) on the support fitting (361) and attach it with the washer (369) and the nut (368).
2 Tighten the nut (368) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-020 COTTER PIN (367).
(c) Install the fork end (95) on the target lever (90) (refer to the procedure (1) (b)).
D. Preparation of the Replacement Components
(1) Make sure that there are new tab washers (16) on the link assembly (26).
(2) If not, replace the tab washers (16) as follows:
(a) Release the tab washers (16) from the jam nuts (17).
(b) Remove the fork ends (15) and (25) from the connection rod (18).
(c) Remove and discard the tab washers (16) from the connection rod (18).
(d) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the threads of the connection rod (18).
(e) Install the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 LOCKING DEVICE (16) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-200 TAB WASHERS (16) and the fork ends (15) and (25) on the connection rod (18).
(f) Do not fully tighten the jam nuts (17) or safety them with the tab washers (16) at this time.
(3) Make sure that the distance between the fork ends (15) and (25) of the replacement link assembly (26) is as recorded in the removal procedure.
Subtask 52-31-21-420-058-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that there are new tab washers (16) on the link assembly (26).
(2) If not, replace the tab washers (16) as follows:
(a) Release the tab washers (16) from the jam nuts (17).
(b) Remove the fork ends (15) and (25) from the connection rod (18).
(c) Remove and discard the tab washers (16) from the connection rod (18).
(d) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the threads of the connection rod (18).
(e) Install the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 LOCKING DEVICE (16) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-200 TAB WASHERS (16) and the fork ends (15) and (25) on the connection rod (18).
(f) Do not fully tighten the jam nuts (17) or safety them with the tab washers (16) at this time.
(3) Make sure that the distance between the fork ends (15) and (25) of the replacement link assembly (26) is as recorded in the removal procedure.
E. Installation of the Switch Mechanism
(1) Install the link assembly (26) as follows:
(a) Install the fork end (25) on the drive shaft lever (24) as follows:
1 If removed, install the sleeve (22) on the fork end (25).
2 Put the fork end (25) in position on the drive shaft lever (24).
3 Install the bolt (23), the washer (21) and the nut (20).
4 Tighten the nut (20) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-100 COTTER PIN (19) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-100 COTTER PIN (19).
(b) Install the fork end (15) on the target lever (3) as follows:
1 If removed, install the bush (11) on the fork end (15).
2 Put the fork end (15) on the target lever (3).
3 Install the bolt (10), the washer (12) and the nut (13).
4 Tighten the nut (13) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-150 COTTER PIN (14) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-150 COTTER PIN (14).
(2) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the target (4) with the bolts (5), the washers (2) and the nuts (101) on the target lever (3).
(b) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
1 Put the target lever (3) on the support fitting (9) and install the washer (8) and the nut (7).
2 Tighten the nut (7) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-020 COTTER PIN (6) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-020 COTTER PIN (6).
Subtask 52-31-21-560-055-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the link assembly (26) as follows:
(a) Install the fork end (25) on the drive shaft lever (24) as follows:
1 If removed, install the sleeve (22) on the fork end (25).
2 Put the fork end (25) in position on the drive shaft lever (24).
3 Install the bolt (23), the washer (21) and the nut (20).
4 Tighten the nut (20) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-100 COTTER PIN (19) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-100 COTTER PIN (19).
(b) Install the fork end (15) on the target lever (3) as follows:
1 If removed, install the bush (11) on the fork end (15).
2 Put the fork end (15) on the target lever (3).
3 Install the bolt (10), the washer (12) and the nut (13).
4 Tighten the nut (13) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-150 COTTER PIN (14) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-150 COTTER PIN (14).
(2) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the target (4) with the bolts (5), the washers (2) and the nuts (101) on the target lever (3).
(b) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
1 Put the target lever (3) on the support fitting (9) and install the washer (8) and the nut (7).
2 Tighten the nut (7) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-020 COTTER PIN (6) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-020 COTTER PIN (6).
F. Preparation of the Replacement Components
(1) Make sure that there are new locking devices (16) on the link assembly (26).
(2) If there are not, replace the locking devices (16) as follows:
(a) Remove the lockwires:
(b) Loosen the jam nuts (17).
(c) Remove the fork ends (15) and (25) and the jam nuts (17) from the connection rod (18).
(d) Remove and discard the locking devices (16) from the connection rod (18).
(e) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the threads of the connection rod (18).
(f) Install the jam nuts (17), the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 LOCKING DEVICE (16) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-420 LOCKING DEVICE (16) and the fork ends (15) and (25) on the connection rod (18).
(g) Do not fully tighten the jam nuts (17) or safety them with lockwires to the locking devices (16) at this time.
1 TORQUE the jam nuts and safety them with the lockwires after you adjusted clearance J1 (Para. 4 D step (3)).
(3) Make sure that the distance between the fork ends (15) and (25) of the replacement link assembly (26) is as recorded during the removal procedure.
Subtask 52-31-21-420-058-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that there are new locking devices (16) on the link assembly (26).
(2) If there are not, replace the locking devices (16) as follows:
(a) Remove the lockwires:
WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
1 Cut and discard the lockwires from the jam nuts (17) and locking devices (16).(b) Loosen the jam nuts (17).
(c) Remove the fork ends (15) and (25) and the jam nuts (17) from the connection rod (18).
(d) Remove and discard the locking devices (16) from the connection rod (18).
(e) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the threads of the connection rod (18).
(f) Install the jam nuts (17), the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 LOCKING DEVICE (16) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-420 LOCKING DEVICE (16) and the fork ends (15) and (25) on the connection rod (18).
(g) Do not fully tighten the jam nuts (17) or safety them with lockwires to the locking devices (16) at this time.
1 TORQUE the jam nuts and safety them with the lockwires after you adjusted clearance J1 (Para. 4 D step (3)).
(3) Make sure that the distance between the fork ends (15) and (25) of the replacement link assembly (26) is as recorded during the removal procedure.
G. Installation of the Switch Mechanism
(1) Install the link assembly (26) as follows:
(a) Connect the fork end (25) to the drive shaft lever (24) as follows:
1 If removed, install the bush (22) in the fork end (25).
2 Put the fork end (25) in position on the drive shaft lever (24).
3 Install the bolt (23), the washer (21) and the nut (20).
4 Tighten the nut (20) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-100 COTTER PIN (19) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-100 COTTER PIN (19).
(b) Connect the fork end (15) to the target lever (3) as follows:
1 If removed, install the sleeve (11) in the fork end (15).
2 Put the fork end (15) on the target lever (3).
3 Install the bolt (10), the washer (12) and the nut (13).
4 Tighten the nut (13) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-140 COTTER PIN (14) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-360 COTTER PIN (14).
(2) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the target (4) together with the bolts (5), the washers (2) and the nuts (1) on the target lever (3).
(b) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
1 Put the target lever (3) on the support fitting (9) and install the washer (8) and the nut (7).
2 Tighten the nut (7) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-020 COTTER PIN (6) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-020 COTTER PIN (6).
Subtask 52-31-21-820-054-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the link assembly (26) as follows:
(a) Connect the fork end (25) to the drive shaft lever (24) as follows:
1 If removed, install the bush (22) in the fork end (25).
2 Put the fork end (25) in position on the drive shaft lever (24).
3 Install the bolt (23), the washer (21) and the nut (20).
4 Tighten the nut (20) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-100 COTTER PIN (19) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-100 COTTER PIN (19).
(b) Connect the fork end (15) to the target lever (3) as follows:
1 If removed, install the sleeve (11) in the fork end (15).
2 Put the fork end (15) on the target lever (3).
3 Install the bolt (10), the washer (12) and the nut (13).
4 Tighten the nut (13) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-140 COTTER PIN (14) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-360 COTTER PIN (14).
(2) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the target (4) together with the bolts (5), the washers (2) and the nuts (1) on the target lever (3).
(b) Install the target lever (3) as follows:
1 Put the target lever (3) on the support fitting (9) and install the washer (8) and the nut (7).
2 Tighten the nut (7) and safety it with the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-020 COTTER PIN (6) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-020 COTTER PIN (6).
H. Adjustment of the Switch Mechanism
(2) Use the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM to measure clearance J1 between the target (365) and the related proximity switch (373) of the door sill area.
Subtask 52-31-21-820-054-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
BEFORE YOU INSTALL/REMOVE THE GSE-TOOL, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE APPLICABLE GSE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. WHILE YOU OPERATE THIS TOOL, CAREFULLY OBEY THEM. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Push the door handle in the recess of the door structure. (2) Use the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM to measure clearance J1 between the target (365) and the related proximity switch (373) of the door sill area.
NOTE: Clearance J1 must be between 1.0 mm (0.039 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.071 in.).
(3) If clearance J1 is out of tolerance, adjust the proximity switch (373) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-003). H. Adjustment of the Switch Mechanism
(2) Use the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM to measure clearance J1 between the target (4) and the related proximity switch (27) of the door sill area.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
BEFORE YOU INSTALL/REMOVE THE GSE-TOOL, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE APPLICABLE GSE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. WHILE YOU OPERATE THIS TOOL, CAREFULLY OBEY THEM. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Push the door handle in the recess of the door structure. (2) Use the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM to measure clearance J1 between the target (4) and the related proximity switch (27) of the door sill area.
NOTE: Clearance J1 must be between 1.0 mm (0.039 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.071 in.).
(3) If clearance J1 is out of tolerance, adjust the proximity switch (27) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-003). Subtask 52-31-21-410-066-B
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to all the components of the switch mechanism and to the adjacent cargo door structure.
(3) Install access panel 825AR on the cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-14-400-801).
(4) Make sure that the cargo door is correctly closed and door handle is in the LOCKED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) to all the components of the switch mechanism and to the adjacent cargo door structure.
(3) Install access panel 825AR on the cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-14-400-801).
(4) Make sure that the cargo door is correctly closed and door handle is in the LOCKED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
