Reinforcement of Door Seal


CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU OPEN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR, RECORD ON THE WORK CARD ON THE DOOR, THE DATE AND TIME WHEN YOU OPENED IT. IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.

A. Get Access
   (1) Open the FWD cargo compartment door and safty it with the support struts (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Remove the door seal (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-18-000-001).
4. Procedure

A. Reinforcement of Door Seal
   (1) Prepare the door seal as follows:
     (a) Make a cut of 60.0 mm (2.3622 in.) length into the root of the door seal between FR26 and FR26A.
     (b) Drill stop holes of dia. 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.) at the ends of the cut.
   (2) Install the additional silicon tube into the door seal as follows:
     (a) Cut the TUBE - PLASTIC, FLEXIBLE, DIA 8 MM (0.3 IN.) MAX. to a length of 3465.0 mm (136.4174 in.).
     (b) Push the seal to open the cut.
     (c) Carefully introduce the additional silicon tube into the door seal.
   (3) Close the cut in the door seal root as follows:
     (a) Push the seal to open the cut and very carefully prepare the surfaces of the cut with a CLOTH-EMERY, VERY FINE.
     (b) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) or Silicone Adhesive Sealant-Rubber & Plastic Bonding One part - (Material No.06CED1) to the cut area and fill the stop holes.
     (c) Press the surfaces of the cut together and leave them to dry for some minutes.
     (d) Cover the repair area with a layer of foil Film-Rubber Bonding Polyester Foil - (Material No.14HHB1) and put the seal in the BLOCK 20X10X10 CM (6.5X3X3 IN)-WOODEN.
     (e) Compress the seal in the wooden bonding block with a clamp for a period of 24 hours.
     (f) Remove the BLOCK 20X10X10 CM (6.5X3X3 IN)-WOODEN and the foil from the cut area of the seal.
     (g) Prepare the cut area with CLOTH-EMERY, VERY FINE to get a smooth surface of the seal.

   (1) Install the reinforced door seal (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-18-400-001).
   (2) Close the FWD cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
