Removal of the Door Seal


CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU OPEN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR, RECORD ON THE WORK CARD ON THE DOOR, THE DATE AND TIME WHEN YOU OPENED IT. IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.

A. Get Access
   (1) Open the FWD cargo-compartment door (referred to as cargo door) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Install the 98D52307524000 STRUT-SUPPORT,CARGO DOORS to safety the opened cargo door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-480-001).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE stays in position below the opened cargo door.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurize the hydraulic reservoirs (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-31-18-020-050-C
A. Removal of the Door Seal and the Related Components
   (1) Disconnect the connector (20) from the receptacle (19) and remove wire harness 4611VB (21) from the door actuator area (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-24-000-001).
   (2) Disconnect the door actuator (18) from the cargo door as follows:
     (a) Remove the nut (9), the washer (11), the bolt (12) and the bonding jumper (10) from the actuator attachment fitting (13).
     (b) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17) from the nut (16).
     (c) Remove the nut (16), the washer (15) from the bolt (14).
     (d) Hold the door actuator (18) and remove the bolt (14) and the washer (15).
     (e) Disconnect the piston eye-end of the door actuator (18) from the actuator attachment fitting (13).
   (3) Pull the door seal (1) out of the retainer (2).
