A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 843) or 834 ( 844) is closed, latched and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).

B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Get Access
   (1) Obey the special precautions before you work on the offwing escape-slide systems (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (2) Remove the lining of the overwing emergency-exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-803).
   (3) Make sure that the overwing door is disarmed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-710-802).
   (4) Remove the applicable insulation (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
   (5) Open the overwing emergency-exit door from the passenger compartment side (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-802).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-22-81-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Slide Release Mechanism
   (1) Removal of the shaft (27):
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SPRING. THE TENSION IN THE SPRING CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (6) and (22).
     (b) Remove the nuts (5) and (23) and the washers (4) and (24).
     (c) Remove the levers (3) and (25).
     (d) Removal of the target (26):
       1 Release the lock washer (30) from the nut (31).
       2 Loosen the nut (31).
       3 Disassemble the target (26), the nut (31) and the lock washer (30).
       4 Discard the lock washer (30).
     (e) Remove the shaft (27).
     (f) Removal of the spring (28):
       1 Put on the GOGGLES - PROTECTIVE when you remove the spring.
       2 Remove the spring (28).
NOTE: There is a risk to lose the spring.
   (2) Removal of the rod (16):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (15) and (21).
     (b) Remove the nuts (14) and (20) and the washers (13) and (19).
     (c) Remove the bolts (11) and (17) and the washers (12) and (18).
     (d) Remove the rod (16) from the lever assembly (29).
   (3) Removal of the shaft lever (1):
     (a) Remove the nut (7) and the washer (8).
     (b) Remove the bolt (10) and the locking plate (9).
     (c) Remove the shaft lever (1) from the structure (2).
