3. Job Set-up
Subtask 52-22-62-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put on a safety harness:
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
     (a) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position near applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 843) or 834 ( 844).
   (4) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (5) In the cockpit, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
   (6) Make sure that the adjacent cove light panel are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-48-000-001).
   (7) Make sure that the adjacent door frame linings are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-805).
   (8) Make sure that the adjacent overhead stowage compartment are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-000-001).
   (9) Make sure that the applicable insulation is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
   (10) Make sure that the applicable overwing emergency-exit door is fully open and safetied with the sling and the crane (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-803).

C. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-22-62-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Actuator Assembly
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the eye-ends of the actuator assembly (4) and the shaft of the bolt (3).
   (2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) on the thread of the bolt (3).
   (3) Put the actuator assembly (4) in its installation position on the bracket (1):
     (a) On the upper side, make sure that you install the actuator assembly (4) on the bracket (1).
   (4) Install the washer (2), the bolt (3), the washer (35) and the nut (34).
   (5) Tighten the nut (34).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (6) Safety the nut (34) with the new AIPC 52-21-84-30-600 COTTER PIN (33).
   (7) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.
04SAB2) on the nut (34) and the head of the bolt (3).
Subtask 52-22-62-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Lever Assembly
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the plain bushings (5) and (8), the shafts of the bolts (6) and (7).
   (2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) on the threads of the bolts (6) and (7).
   (3) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Install the lever assembly (36), the plain bushings (5) and the bolt (6) on the actuator assembly (4).
   (4) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Install the lever assembly (25), the plain bushings (5) and the bolt (6) on the actuator assembly (4).
   (5) Install the washers (32) and the nut (31).
   (6) Tighten the nut (31).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (7) Safety the nut (31) with the new AIPC 52-21-84-30-600 COTTER PIN (30).
   (8) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.
04SAB2) on the nut (31) and the head of the bolt (6).
   (9) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Install the bolt (7), plain bushing (8), lever assembly (36), washers (26) and nut (27) on the brackets (9) and (29).
   (10) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Install the bolt (7), plain bushing (8), lever assembly (25), washers (26) and nut (27) on the brackets (9) and (29).
   (11) Tighten the nut (27).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (12) Safety the nut (27) with the new AIPC 52-21-84-30-600 COTTER PIN (28).
   (13) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.
04SAB2) on the nut (27) and the head of the bolt (7).
Subtask 52-22-62-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the Lift Arm
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the plain bushings (11) and (15) and the shafts of the bolts (10) and (14).
   (2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) on the threads of the bolts (10) and (14).
   (3) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Install the lift arm (37), the plain bushing (11) and the bolt (10) on the lever assembly (36).
   (4) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Install the lift arm (21), the plain bushing (11) and the bolt (10) on the lever assembly (25).
   (5) Install the washer (22) and the nut (23).
   (6) Tighten the nut (23).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (7) Safety the nut (23) with the new AIPC 52-21-84-30-590 COTTER PIN (24).
   (8) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.
04SAB2) on the nut (23) and the head of the bolt (10).
   (9) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Put the lift arm (37) and the washers (17) in their installation position on the fitting (38).
   (10) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Put the lift arm (21) and the washers (17) in their installation position on the fitting (16).
   (11) Install the plain bushing (15), the bolt (14), the washer (18) and the nut (19).
   (12) Tighten the nut (19).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (13) Safety the nut (19) with the new AIPC 52-21-84-30-590 COTTER PIN (20).
   (14) Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.
04SAB2) on the nut (19) and the head of the bolt (14).
   (15) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Attach the bonding lead (13) to the lift arm (37) with the new AIPC 52-21-84-30-640 TIE WRAPS (12).
   (16) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Attach the bonding lead (13) to the lift arm (21) with the new
AIPC 52-21-84-30-640 TIE WRAPS (12).
Subtask 52-22-62-410-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the
98A52008509000 SLING-UNIVERSAL,DOORS (104):

     (a) Remove the ring bolts (105) together with the protection washers (106) from the hoisting points (103).
     (b) Remove the ring of the 98A52008509000 SLING-UNIVERSAL,DOORS (104) from the CRANE 50KG (110 LB).
     (c) Install the plugs (102) into the hoisting points (103).
     (d) Make sure that the plugs (102) are flush with the outer door skin.
     (e) Install the new self-adhesive disks (101) on the hoisting points (103) (Ref. AMM TASK 11-00-00-400-022).
     (f) Remove the 98A52008509000 SLING-UNIVERSAL,DOORS (104) and the CRANE 50KG (110 LB).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE OVERWING EMERGENCY-EXIT DOOR AND THE HOISTING DEVICE IS SUFFICIENT TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE OVERWING EMERGENCY-EXIT DOOR WHEN IT IS FULLY OPEN.
   (3) Remove the individual pad system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Close applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833( 843) or 834( 844) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (6) Do a check of the actuator mechanism and make sure that:
  • The nut (19) is safetied with the cotter pin (20).
  • The nut (23) is safetied with the cotter pin (24).
  • The nut (27) is safetied with the cotter pin (28).
  • The nut (31) is safetied with the cotter pin (30).
  • The nut (34) is safetied with the cotter pin (33).
   (7) Install the removed insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (8) Install the removed overhead stowage compartment(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-400-001).
   (9) Install the removed door frame lining(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-805).
   (10) Install the removed cove light panel(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-48-400-001).

E. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

F. Functional Check of the Actuator Mechanism
   (1) Open applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 843) or 834 ( 844) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-802).
   (2) Close applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 843) or 834 ( 844) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (3) Make sure that the actuator mechanism operates correctly.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Do the special precautions after you work on the offwing escape-slide system (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-081-001).
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
