3. Job Set-up
Subtask 52-22-62-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
   (3) Do the special precaution before you work in the offwing escape-slide system (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (4) In the cockpit, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

C. Get Access
   (1) Remove the adjacent cove light panels (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-48-000-001).
   (2) Remove the adjacent door frame linings (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-805).
   (3) Remove the adjacent overhead stowage compartments (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-000-001).
   (4) Remove the applicable insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
   (5) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position near applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833( 843) or 834( 844).
   (6) Put on a safety harness:
WARNING: YOU MUST PUT ON AND ATTACH A SAFETY HARNESS BEFORE YOU START WORK:
  • ON THE THS OR IN THE REAR FUSELAGE
  • ON TOP OF THE WINGS OR PYLONS.
WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
     (a) If you work on the wings, install the individual pad system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).
     (b) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE OVERWING EMERGENCY-EXIT DOOR AND THE HOISTING DEVICE IS SUFFICIENT TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE OVERWING EMERGENCY-EXIT DOOR WHEN IT IS FULLY OPEN.
   (7) Install the 98A52008509000 SLING-UNIVERSAL,DOORS (104):
NOTE: The hoisting sling includes the three-leg sling (PN 98A52008509104), the turnbuckles (PN 98A52008509100), the ropes (PN 98A52008509504) and the ring bolt (PN 98A52008509102).
     (a) Put the CRANE 50KG (110 LB) in position at the applicable overwing emergency-exit door.
     (b) Attach the ring of the 98A52008509000 SLING-UNIVERSAL,DOORS (104) to the CRANE 50KG (110 LB).
     (c) Remove the self-adhesive disks (101) from the hoisting points (103) and discard the self-adhesive disks (101) (Ref. AMM TASK 11-00-00-000-004).
     (d) Remove the plugs (102) from the hoisting points (103).
     (e) Install the ring bolts (105) together with the protection washers (106) in the hoisting points (103).
CAUTION: YOU MUST TIGHTEN THE RING BOLT BY HAND ONLY. DO NOT APPLY ADDITIONAL TORQUE VALUE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DOOR STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.
     (f) Tighthen the ring bolts (105).
   (8) Open the applicable overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Fully open the applicable overwing emergency-exit door from the outer side (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-803).
   (9) Operate the CRANE 50KG (110 LB):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE OVERWING EMERGENCY-EXIT DOOR DOES NOT TOUCH THE HOISTING DEVICE. IF IT DOES, DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE OF THE OVERWING EMERGENCY-EXIT DOOR CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Carefully operate the CRANE 50KG (110 LB) until there is tension in the legs of the hoisting sling (104).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-22-62-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Lift Arm
   (1) Cut and discard the tie wraps (12).
   (2) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Remove the bonding lead (13) from the lift arm (37).
   (3) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Remove the bonding lead (13) from the lift arm (21).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (4) Remove and discard the cotter pin (20).
   (5) Remove the nut (19) and the washer (18).
   (6) Remove the bolt (14) and the plain bushing (15).
   (7) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Disconnect the lift arm (37) and remove the washers (17) from the fitting (38).
   (8) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Disconnect the lift arm (21) and remove the washers (17) from the fitting (16).
   (9) Remove and discard the cotter pin (24).
   (10) Remove the nut (23) and the washer (22).
   (11) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Remove the bolt (10), the plain bushing (11) and the lift arm (37) from the lever assembly (36).
   (12) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Remove the bolt (10), the plain bushing (11) and the lift arm (21) from the lever assembly (25).
Subtask 52-22-62-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the Lever Assembly
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pin (28).
   (2) Remove the nut (27), the washers (26), the bolt (7) and the plain bushing (8) from the brackets (9) and (29).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (30).
   (4) For the forward overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Remove the nut (31), the washers (32), the bolt (6), the plain bushings (5) and the lever assembly (36) from the actuator assembly (4).
   (5) For the aft overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Remove the nut (31), the washers (32), the bolt (6), the plain bushings (5) and the lever assembly (25) from the actuator assembly (4).
Subtask 52-22-62-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Removal of the Actuator Assembly
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pin (33).
   (2) Remove the nut (34) and the washer (35).
   (3) Remove the bolt (3), the washer (2) and the actuator assembly (4) from the bracket (1).
