A. Get Access
(1) Open the emergency exit door (referred to as door) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that the special precaution on the door damper and emergency operation cylinder is done (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
Subtask 52-22-00-865-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the emergency exit door (referred to as door) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that the special precaution on the door damper and emergency operation cylinder is done (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-003).
B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the door linings as necessary, (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-012) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-013).
(2) Install the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT to the emergency exit door (referred to as door) to replace the weight of the door linings during the adjustment procedure.
(3) Make sure that the door is closed and the slide control handle is in the ARMED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-000-001).
(5) Install the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) in the bellcrank lever (172) and make sure that it engagaes in the door structure.
Subtask 52-22-00-860-074-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the door linings as necessary, (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-012) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-013).
(2) Install the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT to the emergency exit door (referred to as door) to replace the weight of the door linings during the adjustment procedure.
(3) Make sure that the door is closed and the slide control handle is in the ARMED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-000-001).
(5) Install the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) in the bellcrank lever (172) and make sure that it engagaes in the door structure.
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the door linings as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-802).
(2) Install the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT to the emergency exit door (referred to as door) to replace the weight of the door linings during the adjustment procedure.
(3) Make sure that the door is closed and the slide control handle is in the ARMED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-000-001).
(5) Install the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) in the bellcrank lever (172) and make sure that it engages in the door structure.
4. Procedure(1) Remove the door linings as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-802).
(2) Install the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT to the emergency exit door (referred to as door) to replace the weight of the door linings during the adjustment procedure.
(3) Make sure that the door is closed and the slide control handle is in the ARMED position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-000-001).
(5) Install the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) in the bellcrank lever (172) and make sure that it engages in the door structure.
Subtask 52-22-00-820-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjustment of the Arm/Disarm Unit
(2) If the dimension "L" is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the spring rod assy (191) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (196) from the pin (198).
(b) Remove the washer (197) and the pin (198) and disconnect the upper eye-end (195) from the lever (199).
(c) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nut (193).
(d) Turn the upper eye-end (195) until the dimension "L" is correct.
(e) Tighten the jam nut (193) and safety it with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - on the locking devices (194).
(f) Put the upper eye-end (195) in position to the lever (199) and attach it with the pin (198) and the washer (197).
(g) Safety the pin (198) with the new AIPC 52-22-21-09-400 COTTER PIN (196).
(3) Measure the dimension "M" between the surface of the guide fitting (190) and the top edge of the retainer cap (191). The dimension "M must be between 38.0 mm (1.496 in.) and 40.0 mm (1.575 in.).
(4) If the dimension "M" is out of tolerance, adjust the spring rod assy (192) as follows:
(a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nut (189).
(b) Turn the lower eye-end (188) until the dimension "M" is correct.
(c) Tighten the jam nut (189) and safety it with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - on the locking devices (194).
(5) Make sure that there is no play at the slide control handle (187).
(6) If there is a play at the slide control handle (187), adjust the length of the connection rod (180) as follows:
(a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nuts (182).
(b) Turn the rod (183) until there is no play at the slide control handle (187).
(7) Adjust the indication of the arm/disarm unit as follows:
(a) Make sure that the slide control handle (187) is moved up in the DISARMED position.
(b) Make sure that the green "DISARMED" label (186) is in the center of the indication plate (184).
(c) If not, remove the self-adhesive green "DISARMED" label (186) and attach it in the correct center position of the indication plate (184).
(d) Move down the slide control handle (187) in the armed position.
(e) Carefully mark the position of the red "ARMED" label (185) in the center of the indication plate (184).
(f) Put the self-adhesive red "ARMED" label (185) in the correct position on the indication plate (184).
Subtask 52-22-00-820-059-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Measure the dimension "L" between the jam nut (193) of the spring rod assy (192) and the top edge of the retainer cap (191). The dimension "L" must be between 83.0 mm (3.268 in.) and 85.0 mm (3.346 in.). (2) If the dimension "L" is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the spring rod assy (191) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (196) from the pin (198).
(b) Remove the washer (197) and the pin (198) and disconnect the upper eye-end (195) from the lever (199).
(c) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nut (193).
(d) Turn the upper eye-end (195) until the dimension "L" is correct.
(e) Tighten the jam nut (193) and safety it with
(f) Put the upper eye-end (195) in position to the lever (199) and attach it with the pin (198) and the washer (197).
(g) Safety the pin (198) with the new AIPC 52-22-21-09-400 COTTER PIN (196).
(3) Measure the dimension "M" between the surface of the guide fitting (190) and the top edge of the retainer cap (191). The dimension "M must be between 38.0 mm (1.496 in.) and 40.0 mm (1.575 in.).
(4) If the dimension "M" is out of tolerance, adjust the spring rod assy (192) as follows:
(a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nut (189).
(b) Turn the lower eye-end (188) until the dimension "M" is correct.
(c) Tighten the jam nut (189) and safety it with
(5) Make sure that there is no play at the slide control handle (187).
(6) If there is a play at the slide control handle (187), adjust the length of the connection rod (180) as follows:
(a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nuts (182).
(b) Turn the rod (183) until there is no play at the slide control handle (187).
(7) Adjust the indication of the arm/disarm unit as follows:
(a) Make sure that the slide control handle (187) is moved up in the DISARMED position.
(b) Make sure that the green "DISARMED" label (186) is in the center of the indication plate (184).
(c) If not, remove the self-adhesive green "DISARMED" label (186) and attach it in the correct center position of the indication plate (184).
(d) Move down the slide control handle (187) in the armed position.
(e) Carefully mark the position of the red "ARMED" label (185) in the center of the indication plate (184).
(f) Put the self-adhesive red "ARMED" label (185) in the correct position on the indication plate (184).
B. Adjustment of the Release Shaft Assembly
(2) If the dimension "P" is out of tolerance, adjust the position of the release lever pin (217) as follows:
(a) Loosen the nut (216) and move the release lever pin (217) in the vertical direction until the dimension "P" is correct.
(b) Tighten the nut (216).
(3) Install the rigging pin (202) into the shaft lever (201) and make sure that it engages also into the door structure.
(a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nuts (213).
(b) Turn the rod (214) until you can install the rigging pin (202) into the door structure.
(c) Tighten the jam nuts (213) and safety them with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - on the locking devices (212).
(5) Make sure that the clearance between the target of the actuation lever (207) and the proximity sensor 5WN or 6WN is correctly adjusted (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-009).
(6) Measure the dimension "N" between the head of the stop bolt (203) and the actuation lever (207). The dimension "N" must be between 0.2 mm (0.008 in.) and 0.4 mm (0.016 in.).
(7) If the dimension "N" is out of tolerance, adjust the stop bolt (203) as follows:
(a) Remove the nut (206) and the stop bolt (203) together with the washers set (204) from the stop fitting (205).
(b) Prepare the thickness of the washers set (204) so that the dimension "N" is correct.
(c) Install the stop bolt (203) together with the washers set (204) and the nut (206).
(8) Pull up the slide control handle (187) in the DISARMED position and safety it with the 98A52107632000 PIN - SAFETY SLIDE.
(9) Measure the dimension "R" between the forward edge of the override-clutch release lever (218) and the release lever pin (217). The dimension "R" must be between 10.0 mm (0.394 in.) and 14.0 mm (0.551 in.).
(10) If the dimension "R" is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the connection rod (211) as follows:
(a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nuts (208).
(b) Turn the rod (210) until the dimension "R" is correct.
(c) Tighten the jam nuts (208) and safety them with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - on the locking devices (209).
(11) Make sure that the release travel between the release lever (233) of the door damper and the operation lever (231) is correct (refer also to Para. C.).
(12) Measure the dimension "S" between the rivet head (219) of the override-clutch release lever (218) and the stop (220). The dimension "S" must be between 1.4 mm (0.055 in.) and 3.4 mm (0.134 in.).
(13) If the dimension "S" is out of tolerance, add or remove the washer of the washerset (221) as necessary.
(b) Measure the clearance "T" between the rivet end (219) and the stop (220) which must be 1.0 mm (0.039 in.) minimum.
(15) Remove the 98A52107632000 PIN - SAFETY SLIDE and push down the slide control handle (187) in the armed position.
Subtask 52-22-00-820-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Measure the dimension "P" between the override-clutch release lever (218) and the release lever pin (217). The distance "P" must be between 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.059 in.). (2) If the dimension "P" is out of tolerance, adjust the position of the release lever pin (217) as follows:
(a) Loosen the nut (216) and move the release lever pin (217) in the vertical direction until the dimension "P" is correct.
(b) Tighten the nut (216).
(3) Install the rigging pin (202) into the shaft lever (201) and make sure that it engages also into the door structure.
NOTE: The rigging pin (202) is part of the 98D52208282000 PIN-RIGGING,DOOR MECHANISM.
(4) If you cannot install the rigging pin (202), adjust the length of the link rod (215) as follows: (a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nuts (213).
(b) Turn the rod (214) until you can install the rigging pin (202) into the door structure.
(c) Tighten the jam nuts (213) and safety them with
(5) Make sure that the clearance between the target of the actuation lever (207) and the proximity sensor 5WN or 6WN is correctly adjusted (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-009).
(6) Measure the dimension "N" between the head of the stop bolt (203) and the actuation lever (207). The dimension "N" must be between 0.2 mm (0.008 in.) and 0.4 mm (0.016 in.).
(7) If the dimension "N" is out of tolerance, adjust the stop bolt (203) as follows:
(a) Remove the nut (206) and the stop bolt (203) together with the washers set (204) from the stop fitting (205).
(b) Prepare the thickness of the washers set (204) so that the dimension "N" is correct.
(c) Install the stop bolt (203) together with the washers set (204) and the nut (206).
(8) Pull up the slide control handle (187) in the DISARMED position and safety it with the 98A52107632000 PIN - SAFETY SLIDE.
(9) Measure the dimension "R" between the forward edge of the override-clutch release lever (218) and the release lever pin (217). The dimension "R" must be between 10.0 mm (0.394 in.) and 14.0 mm (0.551 in.).
(10) If the dimension "R" is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the connection rod (211) as follows:
(a) If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire and loosen the jam nuts (208).
(b) Turn the rod (210) until the dimension "R" is correct.
(c) Tighten the jam nuts (208) and safety them with
(11) Make sure that the release travel between the release lever (233) of the door damper and the operation lever (231) is correct (refer also to Para. C.).
(12) Measure the dimension "S" between the rivet head (219) of the override-clutch release lever (218) and the stop (220). The dimension "S" must be between 1.4 mm (0.055 in.) and 3.4 mm (0.134 in.).
(13) If the dimension "S" is out of tolerance, add or remove the washer of the washerset (221) as necessary.
NOTE: If necessary, use a new universal AL-rivet, dia. 4.8 mm (0.19 in.) (219).
(14) Do the subsequent clearance check after a "simulated emergency opening": NOTE: In the "simulated emergency opening"
(a) Make sure that the aircraft is in the maintenance configuration as described in the functional test (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-720-001). - the override-clutch release lever (218) is in the energized position
- the door is in the fully open position.
(b) Measure the clearance "T" between the rivet end (219) and the stop (220) which must be 1.0 mm (0.039 in.) minimum.
NOTE: This makes sure that the door moves freely from the open to the closed position after a "simulated emergency opening".
(c) If the clearance "T" is less than 1.0 mm (0.039 in.), remove the material from the rivet end (219) to get the correct clearance. (15) Remove the 98A52107632000 PIN - SAFETY SLIDE and push down the slide control handle (187) in the armed position.
C. Adjustment of the Release Travel between the Door Damper and the Operation Lever
(1) Make sure that the related door is closed and in this condition:
(a) Pull up the inboard handle to the OPEN position until the door lifts in its fully up position.
(c) Put a mark on the stop bolt (234) to show the position of the lower edge of the release lever (233).
(e) Measure the distance between the pencil mark and the top of the stop bolt (234):
(a) If necessary, bend the tab washer (236) to release the adjustment nut (235).
(c) Turn the stop bolt (234) until the dimension "U" is correct.
(d) Tighten the adjustment nut (235) and the jam nut (238).
(e) Safety the adjustment nut (235) with the tab washer (236).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the related door is closed and in this condition:
- the release lever (233) of the door damper is fully retracted in the safetied position
- the 98A52107632000 PIN - SAFETY SLIDE is removed and the slide control handle of related door is in the armed position
- the percussion mechanism of the door damper is blocked with the related stowage pin (239)
(a) Pull up the inboard handle to the OPEN position until the door lifts in its fully up position.
NOTE: The door must be flush with the opening of the door frame lining and not opened.
(b) Loosen the knurled screw (232) and carefully extend the release lever (233) until it touches the stop bolt (234). (c) Put a mark on the stop bolt (234) to show the position of the lower edge of the release lever (233).
NOTE: A PENCIL - SHARP is necessary to put a mark on the stop bolt (234).
(d) Retract the release lever (233) and safety it with the knurled screw (232). (e) Measure the distance between the pencil mark and the top of the stop bolt (234):
NOTE: The dimension must be between 5.5 mm (0.217 in.) and 6.5 mm (0.256 in.).
(3) If the dimension "U" is out of tolerance, adjust the position of the stop bolt (234) as follows: (a) If necessary, bend the tab washer (236) to release the adjustment nut (235).
NOTE: A bent AIPC 52-22-22-06-170 TAB WASHER (236) must be replaced.
(b) Loosen the jam nut (238) and the adjustment nut (235). (c) Turn the stop bolt (234) until the dimension "U" is correct.
(d) Tighten the adjustment nut (235) and the jam nut (238).
(e) Safety the adjustment nut (235) with the tab washer (236).
Subtask 52-22-00-410-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Remove the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT from the door.
(2) Install the door linings as removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-012) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-013).
(3) Remove the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) from the bellcrank lever (172).
(4) Install the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-400-001).
(5) Do the special precaution on the door damper and emergency operation cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-004).
(6) Close the door correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
Subtask 52-22-00-410-063-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT from the door.
(2) Install the door linings as removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-012) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-013).
(3) Remove the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) from the bellcrank lever (172).
(4) Install the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-400-001).
(5) Do the special precaution on the door damper and emergency operation cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-004).
(6) Close the door correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
A. Close Access
(1) Remove the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT from the door.
(2) Install the door linings as removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-802).
(3) Remove the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) from the bellcrank lever (172).
(4) Install the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-400-001).
(5) Do the special precaution on the door damper and emergency operation cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-004).
(6) Close the door correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
Subtask 52-22-00-865-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the 98D52207557000 BALLAST WEIGHT - EMERGENCY EXIT from the door.
(2) Install the door linings as removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-802).
(3) Remove the 98D52207552000 PIN-RIGGING - SLIDE RELEASE MECHANISM (171) from the bellcrank lever (172).
(4) Install the overhead stowage compartments above the applicable door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-24-41-400-001).
(5) Do the special precaution on the door damper and emergency operation cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-860-004).
(6) Close the door correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001).
